We stayed at the hotel for a weekend in the beginning of July and we had an okay stay. There were some good things and some not so good things: Pros: - Location (close to beach, promenade, restaurants, tram stop, parking (need to be reserved in advance)). - Big room, full body mirror, toilet separate from bathroom, comfortable bed, small fridge, seating area. - Breakfast was good. Cons: - Expensive parking and unclear instructions from hotel. - Room was very worn down (paint falling off walls, worn down bathroom and toilet, very dusty areas) - Very low water pressure in the shower. - No air condition, so the room was very warm all day and night and only a small part of the window could be opened. - Not very sound proof - we could hear everything from the hallway and the street and got woken up many times during the night from guests coming home. - Not possible to lock the door from the inside, which was uncomfortable. - No “do not disturb sign”, so cleaning staff can come in at any minute. - No door to the bathroom which was located right by the main door. - Very small and overcrowded pool.

Based on the images we expected higher quality so it was a disappointing experience. The room we booked was 'superior', however, it was old and not amazingly maintained - the wallpaper was slowly letting loose and cracking open; insulation was bad as we could feel a cold draft close to the windows. There was no door on the bathroom, which was just a bit strange for us. One of the receptionists was not very friendly - we felt that we were seen as stupid for even asking things. On the positive side: breakfast was varied and hotel staff at the restaurant was friendly and attentive. The beds were comfortable.

I was in a rush and had to walk all the back up to my hotel room to get parking receipt as it wasn’t on the system. If I didn’t have the receipt I would of had to pay again. They also tried to get payment twice for the stay. The hotel is lovely with a short walk to the beach. They seem to be in the middle of a refurb the bed was massive with brand new mattress with and excellent monsoon shower. Eating areas looked lovely. I think the reception is understaffed and possibly overworked. Amazing hotel that needs a little effort put into the admin systems

Nice big rooms, friendly staff in the lobby. Prive quality is this a perfect choice. The breakfast buffet was more than sufficient in choice and quantity. A little too much noise from a cleaning machine or a washing machine in the middle of the night was a little disturbing. And the shower is very slippery which maybe should be take care of to avoid injuries. But overall I stay a pleased client.

We were in the wing furthest from reception, above the swimming pool and health suite. These rooms have balconies and we were lucky to get a room on sea side, though you cannot see the sea because the Royal Gardens obstructs the view. It's fab being next to the local swimming pool with 3 open air pools and slides, plus it's next to the covered historic walkway adjoining the Thermae hotel. It's next to a tram stop just 1 stop to the centre of Oostende and 2 stops to the train station. It's also next to the last horse racing track in Belgium, open for racing every Monday in July and August, fireworks also every Monday July and August at 11pm, which you can see from the hotel balconies. I found the buffet breakfast fine, hot food of bacon, sausages, beans, eggs. Cold breakfasts of meats and cheeses, plus cereals and fruit, plus mini croissants/Danish/pains au chocolat. It's hard to fault it, you can eat as much as you like! The room was spotless, really large, plenty of storage space. The swimming pool is open 10am to 10pm. It's small and a little too cold, but there is a Jacuzzi to warm up in. We had exclusive use of pool and Jacuzzi.

I was cycling up the Belgium coast and wanted a bit of luxury on the way, while this hotel is good its not fantastic, hotel management need to up their game a bit, the buffet breakfast is ok but nothing special, the room was ok, the staff are reasonably friendly and helpful however check-out time was early at 10 am and I had to pay 20 euros to use the spa, I thought this would be included in the price, as I was lead to believe on the hotels.com website (guys - please make this clear)! Also for some reason when I booked the money was not taken straight from my account as usually happens, so ended up playing the hotel. Overall it was ok but I think I will try somewhere else need time.

The hotel is undergoing major improvements and as such was not ready for guests. Lack of sound proofing between the floor means you may have a disrupted stay and disturbed sleep as you can hear the movements of the guests above. The continental breakfast was extremely good but the bar was understaffed for most of our stay and some of the staff were quite grumpy towards the guests. We were told that we had been upgraded on our room but do not feel that this was quite accurate as the room was only standard.

Rooms basic, corridor feels like being in a cellar not nice at all could do with some paint and some pictures on way the walls to make it more welcoming. The deco lets the Hotel down. Cleaner didn't turn up until 17pm, not good. Anyway Staff was friendly but some of the staff didn't speak hardly any English.

Whilst our stay was pleasant, there was a few downsides, big issue was that there was no lock/chain on the inside of the door so on 3 occasions my 1 yr old opened the door and was halfway down the corridor, the noise of passing guests from the corridor was very loud as the floors were not carpeted, we had to pay extra for baby cot, and cooked breakfast not very nice.

This is the second time we have visited and found the staff most helpful. We only took breakfast but this was excellent. We used the pool but not the new facilities that have just been added to the "Wellness Centre" If we visit Ostende again next year this is the hotel of our choice. WiFi is available but strength depends on where you are in the hotel.
