S31 Sukhumvit Hotel

Maybe it's the low season pricing but honestly couldn't fault it, very happy with my stay

S 31 hotel is my second home.Every time we come to Bangkok, it's a must for us to stay at this beautiful, centrally located hotel. Sleeping in their incredibly comfortable beds and enjoying the excellent breakfast is a privilege we love to treat ourselves to. All the staff are excellent, from the front desk to the lobby, from the room cleaning to the catering, to the valet parking (sorry if I forgot anyone). They all provide us with excellent service, a real dream, thank you! We've tried almost every room type available and always love coming back! ❤️

Great location

I would rate S31 Sukhumvit Hotel as an old 4-star hotel rather than a 5-star property. Most of the staff were helpful and polite, but there were too many maintenance and facility issues during my stay. Location: The location is convenient, within about a 10-minute walk of BTS Asok, Sukhumvit MRT and Terminal 21. I was also informed that the hotel provides a complimentary tuk-tuk service to Terminal 21 and Phrom Phong BTS at certain hours. The concierge staff were very friendly and welcoming. The check-in counter service was more neutral, but check-in itself was a breeze. However, I found some of the F&B staff during breakfast less friendly. In particular, the kitchen staff working at the omelette station came across as very unfriendly and unwelcoming. He did not need to smile, of course, but his expression and manner did not make the interaction particularly pleasant. Perhaps he was simply very busy managing both the omelette station and noodle soup, but as a guest, I found the service lacking warmth. I also noticed that the breakfast service staff generally only cleared plates after guests had already left their tables, rather than clearing them promptly while guests were still dining. There were also a few staff members who appeared to be standing around near the entrance rather than actively attending to the dining area. These details contributed to an overall impression of service that was not particularly attentive. The hotel also has some unnecessarily complicated systems. For example, the special lift arrangement for accessing the Premier floor felt more troublesome than useful. On one of the days when I returned to the hotel, the lift was not working because a red button had apparently been turned off. I was already tired and simply wanted to return to my room, but I still had to wait while the staff looked into the problem. The TV setup was another frustration. The remote control was not working properly, and the system was extremely slow. When trying to use Netflix, I initially had to navigate using the on-screen cursor, which was painfully slow and only allowed me to select a very limited number of items. It was quite frustrating to use. On the second day, the maintenance staff eventually brought me a computer mouse, which made the TV much easier to operate. I appreciated their assistance, but it took considerable time and effort to get a basic function working properly. The TV in the bathroom also had issues. Initially, it was not synchronised properly, and there were further connection and wiring issues with both TVs that required staff assistance. The rain shower also took a long time to produce hot water. The water remained cold for quite a while before heating up, which was inconvenient and felt wasteful, as a considerable amount of water had to run while waiting for the hot water. The Wi-Fi was stable during my stay. I did not use it for work or anything particularly demanding, but it was reliable enough for browsing and general use. The guest sauna and steam room were also not working. I had specifically planned to use these facilities, so I spent quite a bit of time waiting and checking with the staff to see if they could get them working. Eventually, I was allowed to use the newer sauna by the pool, which normally requires an additional charge, but the hotel waived the charge because the guest sauna was unavailable. I appreciated this gesture, but I had already spent quite a lot of time waiting around. The breakfast spread was just okay. On the 26th, breakfast was more crowded than usual, and only one coffee machine was available. Combined with the less-friendly and somewhat inattentive F&B service, breakfast was not particularly memorable. To be fair, most of the staff were helpful and polite, and I appreciate that they did assist whenever I reported an issue.
