The hotel is located close to the main dining and shopping street. There is no elevator but the hotel has only 2 levels. Our room 215 had a window but the light and view was blocked completely another building. The bathroom is very small and the toilet is right up to the front of the bathroom door. It just looks weird. Parking was on site. Breakfast was okay. The building looks more like an inn.

Just a couple of minutes from the downtown and wharf, the location is unbeatable. There are lots of excellent restaurants, bars, entertainment and activities in this historic downtown area.

We had a wonderful stay at The Hotel on Pownal. The location is excellent — within walking distance of downtown Charlottetown, making it easy to explore the city, restaurants, and attractions.
The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that the hotel offers a complimentary happy hour Monday through Friday, including a drink for guests along with homemade cookies and popcorn — such a thoughtful touch!
What really stood out was how hard-working and dedicated the entire team was. From the front desk staff welcoming guests, helping carry luggage to rooms, keeping the hotel clean, and making sure everyone was comfortable, their hospitality was exceptional.
Another unexpected bonus was the coin-operated laundry service. We didn’t think we would need it, but it turned out to be extremely convenient during our stay.
We highly recommend The Hotel on Pownal if you’re looking for a comfortable place close to downtown Charlottetown. One thing to note: the hotel does not have an elevator, so guests who may have difficulty carrying luggage up two flights of stairs should keep this in mind. However, the staff are incredibly helpful and willing to assist.
