The room was expensive and hot - no aircondition and 27 degrees. The bathroom was not clean - the bin had not been emptied and the showerhead kept falling down.

It was a nice hotel with a lovely pool and excellent swimming spots around the sea. We did have some discomfort as the aircon in the room wasn't cooling and the room was quite dated, but overall our goal was to relax and we certainly were able to. There were nice restaurants within walking distance (the buffet was a bit average so we only had dinner at the hotel once) and it was easy to get in and out with parking. The staff were helpful and the spaces nice and clean.

Definitely a huge disappointment. This is not a 5* property at all - rooms are in need of serious renovation, our bathroom was broken, lights in the room were broken as well. When we used the sockets next to the bed, it sounded like something was short-circuiting with the loud ticking noise. It was so loud that we couldn’t sleep. When we called reception to raise the concern, they said “we’re full, we don’t have ear plugs for you and we won’t send anyone to check”. So they basically ignored our complaint and never followed up with it. Food in the buffet was bland and quite bad, dinners were extremely disappointing. Luckily, we only stayed two nights in this terrible hotel

All in all we had a very pleasant stay at the Hotel Melia Coral. Staff was friendly, pool and private beach were both well maintained and comfortable. Food was always plenty and tasty. The only things bothering us were: 1. Parking They allow every guest to park in their private parking lot, which is nice, except they never count the amount of permits given out and the number of spaces in the lot is limited. This means at the same time there might be 300 cars allowed to go into the lot, but only 200 spaces. People coming home late will find no place to park...in this case parking is at a public parking area near the hotel which is very busy most of the time, and is also uninsured naturally. 2. Understaffed reception I don't know if this is because of general shortage in workforce or post-COVID ramp-up issue, but the reception always had a line of 4-5 people waiting in front of it. Checking in and checking out was more than 20-25 minutes. You would expect way faster service, especially since you are required to check-in online beforehand, but with a single person dealing with ALL queries alone it will be always slow. 3. Air Conditioning I am used to hotel air conditioning not being very strong, but having a fully turned on AC running for hours in a room and still seeing temperatures above 26 °C and rising was disappointing. We contacted the reception and got a different room that was only 25 °C and eventually went even lower a bit.

We stayed for 5 nights in the Melia Coral, Umag. The staff from the moment we arrived could not have been nicer or more helpful. The Hotel itself is beautiful with lovely designed interior and extremely clean room. The check in and out procedures are so efficient. Food was delicious but restaurant ‘s supervisor and all staff deserve special thanks. Overall a great place- we would definitely stay again.

The only disappointing thing about this hotel is that the restaurant is geared towards buffet and the al a crate Menu is very limited. The quality of food when you get it is from the buffet. If you want to watch sport on TV then forget it. No option except in the room.

We visited the Melia Coral for 7 nights at the end of April/beginning of May 2016. The most obvious point to make is that the hotel is adults only, which really does make a pleasant change for those who want to avoid screaming kids! The hotel itself is very well run and clean. Our room was very good and included a shower/bath, TV, telephone and room safe. The bed and other furnishings were of good quality. One point to note is that the 'sea side' rooms are just that - on the same side as the sea - they are not really 'sea view' rooms due to the amount of fir trees in the way (although you can 'glimpse' the sea). Free hotel wifi was available and was of a good speed (enough to allow a Skype video call). A minor disappointment was that the room didn't have tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel facilities were also good - we enjoyed the indoor pool, but whilst there was a good range of spa treatments on offer, we found them a tad pricey. The staff were all very pleasant, friendly and helpful, from the Reception Desk to the Restaurant. All of the staff we came across spoke English. One great aspect of the hotel is that they generally have some entertainment in the bar area at night including pianists playing background music and on another night there was a great jazz trio.

SUPERB HOTEL, ONLY REGRET WAS THAT THE AC DIDN'T COOL TO IT'S LOWEST TEMP OF 21.5. MENTIONED IT TO THE FRONT DESK ON THE FIRST DAY, BUT IT DIDN'T IMPROVE. DON'T KNOW IF THEY DEALT WITH IT.
