Capistrano Coast House

My husband and I really enjoyed this romantic getaway. We enjoyed the close distance to the beach, the unique double entrances to the rooms, the tall showerhead, and the record players in the room that showed for Bluetooth connection too! One thing to keep in mind is the sound of the train that’s not too far away and we did hear our neighbors at times through the walls. We were not expecting the breakfast and coffee options provided — homemade by the staff. We also had snacks and coffee/tea options in the room including a high end tea kettle where you can choose the water temperature. Lots of little touches that made our trip special. We will be back!

This is an old hotel from 1939. It has been renovated and has an inviting charm to it. We stayed for four nights, and the experience was excellent overall. Guests who prefer a quiet environment should be aware that the train passes throughout the day and Highway 1 can be noisy. The oceanfront view, however, is beautiful, and beach access is within walking distance through a crosswalk, and over the train tracks. It is safe. Parking was challenging on a few evenings when no designated spots were available. Although staff advised that parking on the highway across the street was permitted, we chose instead to use a “no parking” area on the property, which the staff was ok with. The room was small but functional, very clean, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The TV was framed and very hard to operate with a remote and on a side wall. However, we didn't need or watch TV at all. Aldo and Michael at the front desk provided outstanding assistance throughout our stay. While the property was experiencing air‑conditioning issues, our room was not affected. Our friends down the hall were affected, but management compensated them on the room. Overall, I would stay there again. Every morning on the front porch, overlooking the ocean with a cup of coffee was awesome. Thank you Aldo and Michael.

Avoid this property if customer service matters to you. The customer service attendant was exceptionally rude, dismissive, and completely unwilling to help. Rather than addressing guest concerns, he repeatedly shuffled people into a waiting room and essentially refused to provide meaningful assistance. Communication was virtually nonexistent, wait times were excessive, and guests were left guessing about what was happening and what their options were. What should have been a straightforward issue turned into a major problem because of his attitude and unwillingness to work with us. Instead of offering solutions, he created obstacles, ultimately leaving us scrambling to secure alternative accommodations at the last minute. Travel plans are stressful enough without being treated as an inconvenience by the very person responsible for helping guests. Problems happen in hospitality. What is inexcusable is indifference, poor communication, and a complete lack of customer care. This was one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I’ve had, and it reflects very poorly on the property.
