Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Monterey Beachfront-Marina, CA

I stayed with my 2 adult daughters. Room was dirty, looked like blood splatter on the pull down screen shade on the inside of the window. (See photo) and room darkening shades were moldy. Floors were gritty and appeared dirty. White sheets and comforters had stains and honestly didn't look clean . Windows had no outside screens. Shower drained so slow that we were standing in dirty water. Towels had hair on them that were folded in the bathroom. Had an adjoining door in our room and could smell marijuana smoke coming from the other room. (Supposedly Smoke Free hotel) My daughter is pregnant so we didn't want her exposed her to that all night!! So I called the manager. He spoke to the people in the adjoining room ... (yes we could hear everything they said clearly through the door) and they denied smoking even though the manager clearly said he could smell it in the room but nothing else was done . Those people in the adjoining room were up until 4 am partying , we could hear the lighter clicking and smell the pot until 4 am. We could not open window because there was no screen on the window, we did try but quickly had moths and mosquitoes in the room. Breakfast was horrible. The first day coffee was cold. Powdered eggs. Cold cereal. Second day no coffee and could not find any employee to let know there was no coffee, also wanted to complain about the smoking the night before. Waited over 15 minutes at front desk before I finally dropped off my Keyes in the box in and left. Other patrons were openly complaining and cursing about the service as well. Some were down right livid with the service and walking over to the adjoins property to see if they could find someone. Also as a second thought I don't believe I saw anyone in housekeeping at the property! !! We have stayed here so many times in the past because our kids went to CSUMB , but we haven't stayed here in the last 4 years or so. Something obviously has changed for the worse... new owners !! IDK ???! I paid almost $200 a night. Which is less expensive than other hotels in Monterey but it has absolutely gone downhill, there was a phone in the room which didn't work, I get it ... no one uses land lines but maybe remove it!! I called to complain about the pot smoke and I had to call the 800 number. The manager did talk to the people. They denied it.... yes we could hear the entire conversation they had right thru door. So spend a little more and go somewhere else!!

Room was swanky and the HDTV was Big! Fridge, dryer, microwave… super nice bed! Bathtub… A must stay. Best value I’ve seen! Don’t miss free waffles for breakfast!

Awesome location, friendly helpful staff, and breakfast. The only downside is the rooms aren't as clean as you'd expect them to be.

My wife and I stayed here before and enjoyed our stay. This experience wasn’t the greatest and likely won’t stay here again. When we got to our room, we noticed that we only had 1 roll of toilet paper and it was more than half gone. I went to the front desk to get more and was told that their shipment of toilet paper hasn’t arrived yet. If there’s anything you should not run out of at a hotel is toilet paper! In addition, a couple lights didn’t work and neither did our phone. It’s also very dark with very little lighting in the room. We stayed here because it was Labor Day weekend and it was a little cheaper than other hotels in the area. Next time we will spend a little more and stay elsewhere.
