The front office team were very lovely as usual. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay at the Scenic as it was fully booked, so they kindly upgraded me to their sister property next door (Te Waonui Resort). However, I didn’t receive the same warm welcome at Te Waonui Resort. One of the female front office staff seemed to be having a bad day and her attitude made the arrival experience feel a little less welcoming than expected.

Arrived at hotel after 3 hours of drive from Greymouth. This place is so quiet. Only found out a lot of booking cancellation due to highway 6 closure. This blocked all those driving between Franz Josef and Wanaka. The whole hotel only has around 10 guests. Surrounding a few restaurants, pub and cafe. One mini supermarket. Hardly see people. We are affected too. As our next trip is Alpine Wanaka. Tried to cancel the booking with the help of hotel staff but have trouble doing so . Only robot answering the call. At last we have to travel to Ashburton then to Queenstown. The room is just like what is shown in the listing. Morning breakfast is not buffet as too few guests. But it is nice with a la carte order. Really appreciate helpful and friendly hotel reception. Many thanks.

Though the weather was bad and disallowed us to take the helicopter, the hotel was close to everything and let us searching for other substitute activities

This is a 3 star hotel with a 4 star price. The property is a bit dirty. The rooms is clean. Reception is very good. However, after that you will receive no additional help from staff. There is no bell boy to help you with bags. You will have to find your room yourself. I had to park in the public street because there was not enough space. The other local hotels have more to offer at a smaller price. I was disappointed with this hotel.
