Room was quite tired looking. Although appeared clean at first, noticed dusty bathroom, shower head partially blocked, grubby headboard. Staff very polite.

My husband and I stayed at the Royal Bath Hotel, Bournemouth, on Saturday 24th January and experienced very poor service – we understand other guests raised similar concerns. We were in Room 573, which was cold (estimated 14-17°C) on arrival. I reported this to reception, who said heating operated on a timer and would start soon. After waiting two hours with no change, my husband returned to suggest bleeding the radiator. A manager attended and did so, but the radiator only became lukewarm and failed to heat the room before the timer switched off. We tried to run a hot bath, but the water was not warm enough, and the bathroom towel radiator was not working. This was unexpected as my husband stayed here two weeks prior without issue, and we understood the hotel holds a four-star rating. When we raised the issues again, the manager seemed reluctant to help. He agreed to switch heating on but said no thermometer was available, and gave no valid reason for the bathroom radiator not working. To our surprise, he said: “This is not the Hilton – in fact, this hotel doesn’t even have any star ratings, so you shouldn’t really complain.” He provided extra blankets and overrode the timer, but this came too late. He offered free leisure access, which we had already paid for, with no other compensation. We booked for a pleasant break, but this was completely ruined. I refused to stay, it was so poor at this hotel. I left after a few hours. From the very beginning the valet parking was a joke and the cars were backed up into the main road, causing a traffic jam. online check-in is a pointless as it takes just as long to check in. My room was so far up in what felt like Rapunzel's tower and you could feel the cold and damp the higher up you got. I would hazard a guess that these may have been the staff quarters last century. It felt like you weren't part of the hotel. On my way up I saw a couple of ladies and they were on their way down to complain about damp. Then when I went down to ask about the heating as my room was freezing, I passed a couple trying to climb to the 'tower' with a wheelchair, and the lady, who was disabled desperately trying to walk up the stairs. They said they had told them on the booking about having a disability. I was told the heating only comes on 4pm-10pm and they don't provide heaters, but that I could have some blankets. The patronising manager who came to bleed the radiator in my room, simply wouldn't except that I was very unhappy with being in a cold room with no heating past 10pm. He did nothing to validate my complaint. I ran the water in the sink and saw bits in the sink, I cleaned the sink, but when I ran it again the same thing happened, I tried the bath, same again. Clearly dodgy old pipes, I'm contemplating the water board. Thankfully I hadn't drank any, I'm worried about Legionnaire's.

Old Fashioned Hotel. Gardens. Right by the sea and close to the City Centre. Very good water pressure for shower. Had small double room which was fine as only there to sleep. A long walk to get to lift for my room. Charge £5 extra a day to use the pool. Exceptional service - best I've ever experienced. Stayed an extra night I was so comfortable there. Thank you.

When we went to check in the lady wasn’t very welcoming. She asked for my ID and gave me my room key. I said we had dinner and breakfast included so asked what are the times and where do we go. She told us all the information was in the room and the menu goes on the wall at 5pm. Our room was lovely, a little bit dated but very clean and view was beautiful. Only major downside was room for hot so kept the window open but as it’s on a main road was constant traffic noise. The info pack in the room showed food being served till 11pm however this wasn’t the case as when we returned at 9:30 after the theatre we were told no food served after 8:30! We said we had dinner included and could we get anything the receptionist told us to talk to the manager in the morning and then turned her back to speak to her colleague! Breakfast was self service buffet and food was plentiful and hot. Upon walking in staff ignored us and it was us approaching and asking do we just take a seat ?? Overall location was fantastic, bed was comfy, breakfast was good the main thing letting down this hotel is the staff. The cleaners were very nice, friendly and welcoming but the reception and restaurant staff we encountered were unfriendly and unbothered.

Booked hotel as said Dog Friendly as visiting son who’s at Uni there. But dogs are not allowed in bar and we were very restricted what parts of the hotel we could go. I’ll be booking a different “Dog Friendly” pub on our next visit

This was not a great experience , the bed was so uncomfortable I think the mattress was last changed 20 years ago . Bathroom was quite clean but not spotless . The hotel overall was tired .

The hotel needs some work. There was barely any hot water in the room. The water was just warm enough to take a shower but barely.. you have to pay an extra fee to use the pool and the hot tub and the hot tub was only about 30°. The rooms were uncomfortable, very dated. Not dated in a charming way but more dated in a needs an upgrade.

Reception staff unhelpful and directions to our room were terrible! As our room was in another wing, it could have saved us 15 minutes if this could have been explained. We bumped into another couple in the lift later who had same issue!

The hotel was a bit tired. Service was adequate. The room was adequate, but very noisy and the bed was uncomfortable. The room decor was tired and a bit shabby and the facilities were not great - my room had no hairdryer. Overall, would not recommend for the price (which didn't include breakfast, either).

Hotel is huge & like a rabbit warren. It was not explained properly where our room was therefore we walked round in circles for ages with other guests too!! Room was tiny & very dated. We paid a good price for the room but equal price to a premier inn and the rooms there are far superior. Walls were grubby and needed painting. Floor boards ridiculously creaky. Bathroom tired. Furniture tatty. Some communal areas had clearly had work done and were nice. I assume some rooms are also newer. Ours was disgustingly. We would have complained if we’d been staying more than 1 night. Wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.

I was extremely happy with the accommodation and the hotel itself is beautiful and the staff were very helpful and polite. We will definitely be coming back for another stay in the near future.
