Sunsuri Phuket Hotel

We were looking for a relaxing, no touring kind of 4 day holiday, and Sunsuri delivered on that front beautifully. Warm staff, great pools, lovely food, and a stunning beach nearby made for a genuinely restful family break, though a few gaps (undisclosed renovation, limited beach shuttle hours) kept it from being a true 5 star stay. Check in & Service: Excellent Check in was smooth, with extremely friendly and accommodating staff. We were given early check in (2 hours ahead) and free late checkout until 2pm. A lovely touch: cute thank you gifts were given as a souvenir. Rooms: Great, with some gaps Rooms themselves were excellent. Bathtub, shower facilities, powder room, massive beds, and dining table were all great. Housekeeping was prompt every day. Room service was a standout, delivered in a charming steel tiffin box wrapped in cotton cloth, a nostalgic 90s touch. A few practical issues: aircon took a while to cool given the hot weather, and the kettle and TV remote need checking/replacing. Water bottles were limited to 2 per room with extras chargeable. I'd suggest 4 for adults and 2 for kids as a fairer allocation. Construction Needs Disclosure The hotel is currently under renovation, and this wasn't communicated anywhere prior to arrival. We had requested an unblocked view but ended up facing cranes and a construction site from our Level 4 suite. The lake on the property was also undergoing construction, again a disclosure problem. It looked nothing like what was shown in the ads, photos, and even the promotional video playing on the room TV. Transparency on this upfront would have set the right expectations. Buggy Service: Reliable Since the hotel is built on a hill, buggy service is essential depending on room location. It was readily available whenever needed. Beach Shuttle Needs Extended Hours. This is my strongest feedback. The shuttle to the beach runs only 9:30am to 5:30pm, but guests often return after sunset. Travelling with 3 small kids, walking back along the road, with vehicles passing fast and close, felt unsafe. I requested an extension but was told it wasn't available. I'd strongly recommend extending hours to 7:30am to 7:30pm. Spa: Good Massage, But Not a "Spa" Experience The 1 for 1 offer was great value, and the masseuse and service quality were genuinely good. However, due to ongoing renovation, it felt more like a massage centre than a spa. I'd encourage the property to either complete renovations or adjust marketing materials to match the current on ground experience. Pools: A Highlight! Five pools were great fun. The slide pool and deep dive pool were a hit with kids and adults alike. The pool bar, however, could do much better. For a property advertised as five star, our cocktail order was below average. Main Restaurant: Excellent Food, Minor Gap Breakfast spread was excellent. Juices, breads, and coffee were all great, with excellent service. For lunch, they catered well for Thai vegetarian needs and the kids' menu was lovely. Food overall was top notch and very affordable. My one suggestion: add a few basic Indian dishes to the menu. We compensated by ordering from Highway Curry, a wonderful Indian restaurant just 20 minutes away via Grab delivery, a comforting taste of home after long days at the pool, spa, and beach. Nai Harn Beach & Surroundings Nai Harn is the prettiest beach we've visited so far. We also explored Ya Nui, which wasn't quite as impressive but decent for shore level snorkelling. Promthep Cape nearby was perfect for catching a stunning sunset. Overall A lovely property with warm, attentive staff, fantastic pools, and great food, though I'd rate it more a strong 4 star than a true 5 star experience given the renovation gaps and service inconsistencies. That said, we had a wonderful family holiday here and would happily return once the renovations are complete!

The rooms are very comfortable and clean and the place is very well maintained. The pool is stunning and the lounge area super comfortable. The price is quite high and I was surprised that you need to pay extra for, for example a fruit knife. The drink selection as well as the breakfast pastries could be better.

Nice hotel has all you need but the best thing was the staff all so nice and helpful

Two sisters traveling together. We checked in at 4 PM and asked for a clean room—what followed was anything but. Night one: a lizard in the room. After complaining, staff came 15 minutes later to remove it. We hadn’t even opened the balcony doors (it was pouring outside), so clearly the problem wasn’t us. Morning came the ants. We had a slice of cake, closed the lid tight, left it on the center table—woke up to an army of ants covering the table and our belongings. Soon after, another huge lizard appeared. This was after we were told the room was “deep cleaned.” Not sure what their definition of deep cleaning is. The hotel talks big about being “sustainable,” when you complain about lizards but reality doesn’t match the claim: Water is given in plastic bottles Every voucher and notice is on paper (including an A4 sheet slipped under our door at midnight) No basic amenities like a dental kit, which is unheard of in Thailand After this unpleasant stay, the only gesture they offered was a cocktail discount. We asked for a complimentary airport drop instead—only to be told they’d cover 50%. For a hotel that markets itself as a green and premium space, it fails on both cleanliness and authentic sustainability. Disappointing. Having said that the breakfast was genuinely delicious with many choices and its very close to a very pretty beach. And the room otherwise was nice and big. But we were scared to go out in the balcony
