The hotel itself was lovely. Great food. Great staff (most spoke fluent English too which made it easier for us). The nightly entertainment (bands and fire show) were high quality. It was an enjoyable stay. The most challenging part for us though was getting there, and potentially the reason we wouldn’t return. We had emailed the resort asking for help transferring from Bangkok airport but were told to just find a taxi at the airport. Finding a taxi to travel that distance was a challenge and so we ended up having to catch a taxi to a Bangkok hotel then transfer into an Uber service. It was then a very long drive from Bangkok to get to the pier (Google maps said 2.5 hours but it took us at least 4 hours each way). We arrived at 5pm but had missed the last passenger ferry to the island so called the hotel for advice. We were told to find a private transfer via a speedboat which was expensive. Once on the island we had to organise another transfer to the hotel and navigate being ripped off by the local taxi driver. It was quite a journey that would have been made less stressful if there was a system of organising transfers TO the hotel for guests. Luckily leaving the hotel and returning to the airport was a much smoother process with the hotel organising everything for us. My advice is to make sure your transfer is organised well in advance. We were completely taken advantage of and not offered great help from the hotel. It cost us nearly $7500 Thai Baht to get to the hotel, but only $2000 Thai Baht to travel back to the airport.
