Amor Laut Resort - Beautiful Design, But Several Details Disappoint Amor Laut is an architecturally striking resort with a contemporary design that makes a strong first impression. The building has clean lines, modern colours, and a thoughtfully designed aesthetic. The beachfront setting has the potential to be peaceful and relaxing, but unfortunately our experience was affected by constant hammering and construction-type noise from a boat being worked on directly outside the ocean-view room. This was particularly disappointing given that one of the main attractions of the resort is its tranquil beachfront location. Unfortunately, several other aspects of the experience also did not live up to the standard I would expect from a resort at this price point. The welcome drink was particularly disappointing. Rather than being greeted with a thoughtfully prepared drink, guests are simply invited to help themselves and pour their own. That rather defeats the purpose and tradition of a welcome drink. The quoted taxi fare from Batangas Grand Terminal was also excessive. We were quoted ₽3,000, while the actual cost is around ₽1,000 by regular taxi, or considerably less by public transport - approximately ₽60 for a jeepney plus ₽33 per person for a tricycle. The large markup felt difficult to justify. Another concern was the view from our ocean-view room. The photos used to promote the room did not show the damaged, burned-looking and graffiti-covered building directly within the view. Had this been visible in the booking photos, it would very likely have influenced our decision to book the room. Transparency in this regard would be appreciated. Breakfast was another disappointment. The resort’s signature Eggs Benedict was poorly executed, with dried-out bacon and a thin, untoasted slice of white bread as the base. More broadly, breakfast is not included in the room rate. For a resort charging this level of price, I would expect at least a basic breakfast to be included. The pricing structure is also unnecessarily confusing, using the old “++” system with taxes and service charges added separately. As a guest, I don’t particularly care about the breakdown of taxes and service fees when comparing accommodation prices. Showing the final price upfront would be much clearer and more customer-friendly. The room itself also needed more attention. There was noticeable dust and dirt behind furniture, along with some general maintenance issues. Most concerningly, the bedsheet was stained and appeared dirty upon arrival - something that really should never happen at a resort of this standard. Overall, Amor Laut has excellent architectural design and a beautiful beachfront setting, but the actual experience did not consistently deliver the peaceful, polished resort experience we expected. The resort has the foundations to be exceptional, but noise management, cleanliness, transparency, breakfast quality, pricing, and attention to basic guest comfort need significant improvement to justify the rates being charged. Beautiful architecture and a potentially wonderful location, but the overall experience did not quite match the promise or price.
