    The hotel is in the city which is just around the malls and tourist attractions, the staff are all helpful and courageous. The breakfast buffet is basically good

    I would recommend Ascott Star KLCC if you’re the type yang tak kisah slower service and a more residence-style experience. Personally, for the price I paid (RM700++), I expected more in terms of service and overall upkeep. The property was quite busy, but there were only two bellboys, so even waiting for someone to assist with our luggage from the car took quite some time. Check-in was also a little slow, and most of the staff didn’t come across as particularly friendly or welcoming. There was only one girl in hijab who was really friendly and assisted me well. One of the staff also seemed quite new and couldn’t really answer my questions. Whatever I asked, he would just look at his colleagues for the answer. I understand that new staff need time to learn, but overall the service experience just wasn’t what I expected for the price. My biggest concern was actually the swimming pool. The water looked cloudy instead of clear, and we noticed hair, leaves and even what looked like a dead worm in the pool. My husband also mentioned that the pool tiles felt quite slippery. It just didn’t give us the impression that the pool was as clean or well-maintained as it should be. The gym also had a musty/stuffy smell, almost like there wasn’t enough ventilation. The room itself was comfortable and there was nothing particularly wrong with it, but honestly, nothing special either. For RM700++ per night, I would definitely choose a hotel over a serviced residence next time. At that price point, I personally expect better service and better-maintained facilities. Location-wise, it is convenient. There are plenty of places to eat and a mart nearby, so that’s definitely a plus. So yes, I would recommend it if you’re someone who doesn’t really mind these things. But for someone like me, when I’m paying RM700++ a night, I expect the service and facilities to match the price, and unfortunately they didn’t quite meet my expectations. Overall: 6/10.
