    It was a pleasant surprise to find a proper hotel in Guanajuato, as unfortunately many others suffer from a lack of cleanliness, bed bugs, musty smells, and a general "old smell." El Mesón de los Poetas has everything you need and more, including a good restaurant, and if you have a car, they offer an agreement with a parking garage where, for an additional but quite reasonable fee, you can leave your car "just a tunnel away." Travelers, be prepared to climb stairs, as is common throughout Guanajuato.
