The Royal Sands Resort & Spa

You will like this resort if you a time share holder of this resort…. I am only giving this resort 3* out of 5*. There were some positive and some negative things about this resort. Check-in was a breeze. I had received an email stating that Concierge would be able to help me with dinner reservations. After check-in I went over to concierge for dinner reservations. The gentleman informed me that this hotel is a time share hotel and members get first choice. I was told the I can only try to pick a restaurant the day of the reservation. Members can choose 4 days before they arrive. He informed me that there were no restaurants available for the day I arrived and the next day he could get me a reservation at 9:00 PM, but the buffet is always available. He suggested calling each morning at 8:00AM to get a reservation for a restaurant. He then went on to tell me that if I sat through a 90-minute presentation that he could guarantee me a reservation at 7:00 PM at whatever restaurant I wanted. I’m here on vacation, not to listen to a presentation. How can he guarantee a reservation if there were none available??? I mentioned this to the front desk and they said that their website clearly shows that they are a time share resort. I check their website and did not see anything about being a time share resort. I set my alarm for each morning for 7:55 AM to make sure I called at 8:00AM. I stayed for 4 nights, and not one day could I get a reservation at any restaurant. I was forced to eat at the buffet only. I have been to many all-inclusive resorts and this was the smallest buffet I have ever had, not much of a food selection. I checked in on a Thursday and on Friday morning there was a letter under my door stating that I need to change rooms as on Saturday morning by 11:00 AM. I went to the front desk to inquire about this. I booked and upgraded to a beach front room. The room I was being changed to was a partial ocean view. The front desk person stated that “The Owner Of The Room” was coming and that is why I had to move. I said, fine, then I want a refund of $400 that I spent to upgrade my room. Her reply was, wait a second and let me see. 2 minutes later she said that I did not need to change rooms. ?????? So basically, this was a lie, because if the owner was really coming, I would have had to change rooms because this is a time share resort. I did enjoy the actual resort. The room I had was very spacious and well equipped. All the people in the buffet were very friendly. There are 2 phases to this resort. I stayed in phase 1. All the bartenders, and pool servers in phase 1were very friendly and quick to bring me what I needed, even on the beach. The pool was very clean and there was amble room on the beach to lay out, not so much at the pool. When I checked in, I was given a flag with a number on a plastic stick. They said that I needed to put this on the pool lounge chair. They also said that if there was no one there for over an hour, they would remove the stick and towel and bring to the front desk. That was another lie. Every pool lounge chair was taken by 8:30AM, but not many people were there. So, I would go to the beach and stay there. BY about 2:00PM pool lounge chairs became available. While at the pool each day I noticed that many chairs that had these flags were vacant for well over 2 + hours. So, just so you know, they never check. I would not recommend going over to phase 2. The service ther is very slow, they didn’t seem to care as much. When I checked out there was a charge on my bill that I did not recognize. They said it was to clean the beach. The charge was only $4.80 per day. But when you think out it, there are 340 suites. 340 suites x $4.0 = $1,632 a day to clean the beach????? When I was there, there was only one day that they cleaned the sargassum off the beach. I guess lesson learned, ask first if the resort is a time share resort.

Clean, comfortable beds, the food is Amazing , beautiful beach too !!

This property was half of a condo unit rented out. Experience is more like a home environment than a hotel. This was perfect for what we needed with a small kitchenette.
