Exceptional presidential suite with private pool

We had a pleasant stay at Grand Beach Hotel in Wadduwa. The staff were very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay, which made a big difference. The hotel has a nice pool that our kids thoroughly enjoyed, and the easy access to the beach was a big plus. Our room was quite spacious for the four of us, and we also had a lovely view of both the pool and the ocean, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The hotel provided an additional bed, which was helpful. The food was good overall, and we especially appreciated the thoughtful gesture on our last day when they arranged sandwiches for us before we left for the airport. That said, there were a few drawbacks. The lift was not working and our room was on the second floor, which was inconvenient. There were also a few power outages, and the backup generator did not seem to function properly at times. Overall, a good stay with warm hospitality, but some improvements in maintenance would make the experience even better.

I stayed at Grand Beach Wijayaleisure on December 26th and 27th, and unfortunately, it was a very poor experience. 1. Unprofessional Front Desk: From the moment we arrived, the reception staff was cold and unwelcoming. There was no greeting or even a smile. For a hospitality business, the lack of basic manners was shocking. 2. Lack of Facilities & Communication: On the evening of the 26th, there was no water in the hotel. When we inquired at the reception, the staff was dismissive and lacked the professional communication skills needed to handle guest concerns. 3. Poor Housekeeping: Despite specifically requesting our room to be cleaned when we went out on the 27th, we returned to find the room exactly as we left it—completely untouched. 4. Hostile Environment: Most concerning was a major confrontation in the reception area on the 27th. The hotel staff were speaking very aggressively and disrespectfully to a group of Indian guests. Witnessing such behavior from hotel staff toward guests is completely unacceptable and made our stay very uncomfortable. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing or professional stay. The management seriously needs to train their staff on basic hospitality and conflict resolution.
