    While rooms are on the small side, this hotel is our go to when we visit Tsuruoka. Located next to train station makes it easy to get to other locations or a short walk to many restaurants and sites in Tsuruoka. Rooms are clean and staff provides excellent service.

    Located right at the Tsuruoka train station makes this an easy way to see other locations in the area. Hotel extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms on the small side but very clean. The APA Hotel is our go to stay in Tsuruoka.

    There is spa in the hotel and they even offer room service. It is advertised in their televisions, in every room, with same price. When I went to order a reservation at the reception, I was told they have no such things. They also refused calling a restaurant for me to make a reservation, and couldn’t even order me a taxi from the hotel. Very bad experience and unpleasant. I left the place with a heavy heart.

    The location is unbeatable—right in front of the station, making it very easy to get around by train or local buses. It’s also a great and affordable base for visiting Mt. Haguro and nearby onsen areas. There are plenty of food options. I visited in spring, and the hotel was still using the heating system rather than cooling. I had to open the window, but it was a bit noisy due to nearby izakaya. The bed was also too soft for me, which made it difficult to sleep—but that’s a personal preference. That said, all the staff I interacted with were very patient and helpful. Kudos to them for their hospitality and for helping me solve any issues. I would recommend this place for its excellent location and great service, though perhaps not for comfort.
