Minutes walk from Kyoto station, Dormy Inn is a convenient and economical option for accommodation. The natural hot springs is a bonus to relieve your tired feet after a long day of walking the temple grounds of Kyoto.

I was so pleasantly surprised at how a business hotel can be this good. My room had a sliding door between the bedroom and the entrance. It’s a big room compared to my previous 2 hotels in Kyoto. It made so much difference. The spa is natural spring water and the spa area was very good. It had everything that I needed. The location is close to Kyoto station and many restaurants around it. There’s a bus stop around the corner that was super convenient to get to the sights. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Don’t get me started on the free ramen. It was just what I needed after a long day out. Spa then ramen then ice cream. I’ll definitely come back and even choose other Dormy Inns in my trip

The room smelled bad. I promptly notified the staff, who told me I could rent an air purifier. It didn't improve the smell, so I was given another room which was really noisy, by the motorway and without noise isolating windows. So I notified the staff again, who said "only this time you can choose to go back to stinky room". The Onsen was really dirty, with particles and hair floating on it. We were 2 people in the room, but everyday were given only 1 towel and 1 breakfast, which was very annoying as we had to go to the reception every day to solve the issue. Staff at front desk does not speak English, which makes the communication a lot more difficult. They were in general very unwilling to help. By far this was the worst hotel I stayed in Japan. There are much better hotels in the region for the same price.
