    I just needed a place to sleep one night. I booked a tatami room. It was simple but very clean plus very close to many attractions. If you want a western room they have those too. Staff was very friendly.

    You can see Heian Jingu from here. It’s within walking distance from so may great places. But, it’s quite expensive for the VERY small rooms we had. Our futons (which we had to put out ourselves) took up the entire floor space. The bathroom/toilet was so small I couldn’t walk straight in, or my shoulders would prevent me from entering. I am only 180 cm and 85 kg. The room lights were dim and not adjustable. There’s no meal service readily available. Breakfast was also expensive and not that great looking. The bathroom wall and ceiling had MANY small gnats dead and stuck to the wall. The shower curtain was stained with something red. The worst was that the pot for making hot water, despite having its lid on when we arrived, had dust and someone’s hair inside when I opened it to make water in the morning. The fridge made strange noises all night. There’s no elevator. The walls are thin, and you can hear every cough and sneeze or snore from the neighbors. The futon were old and thin and uncomfortable to sleep on. We all had stiff necks and shoulders, even my 145 cm 39 kg mother was uncomfortable in the cramped, dimly lit, old futon rooms. The staff was friendly, but not helpful, if you can understand what I mean. If you’re just spending time to sleep and then leaving again, and don’t want to take buses or drive to places, bring your own pillow and this should be fine. Otherwise, skip this expensive, low quality hotel.

    Only con that it didn’t have a lift. Across the road from the Museum, Zoo, bus stops and 711. 10mins walk to the Quay for a boat ride. 20mins walk to Gion, and main subway and also railway station and bus terminals. Staff very helpful and polite and rooms were good size with nice toiletries and heated seat warmers.
