    While Ocean Baga Hotel is a 4-star property, I don’t think the service lives up to that standard. My first experience was at check-in. I asked if an early check-in was possible, and the front desk immediately told me that no rooms were available, without even asking about my booking. After a short break, I mentioned that I had a suite booked, one of the property’s better room categories, and suddenly a room was available. This left me with the impression that they had made assumptions about my booking instead of taking a moment to understand my situation. That is not the kind of service I would expect from a 4-star hotel. The room itself was good, but the bathtub was not functional. It was leaking from the back and could not be used, which was disappointing given that it was one of the room’s features. The service issues continued the next morning at breakfast. When I asked a waiter how I could get my bread toasted, given that the toaster seemed quite old, I was simply told “self-service,” and the waiter walked away without answering my actual question. Thankfully, a chef stepped in to help, and I really appreciated his assistance. I also had a frustrating experience trying to contact in-room dining. The person who answered initially couldn’t hear me and then disconnected the call. When I called the hotel’s extension for assistance, I was told to dial 555 directly, which was exactly what I had already done. No one seemed willing to take ownership of the issue or help me resolve it. On the positive side, the room was good and the location is convenient, with the beach nearby. However, good rooms and a good location cannot make up for consistently poor service. Overall, I think the hotel has potential, but the attitude and approach of the front desk and service staff need significant improvement. At this price point and rating, guests should feel welcomed, listened to, and helped rather than dismissed. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously.
