Staff was very rude and had problem with every thing . We had checked in late at night around 12.30 am. They had objection for guest . Not allowed after 7 pm . Better stay in branded chains ., they have nice hospitality . Rooms were so small compared to price . It’s overpriced in comparison to Mariott and Hyatt . They have better class than UMRAO .

⭐ 1/5 I had an extremely unpleasant experience at The Umrao, Delhi, during my stay from 19th to 20th October. My wife and I checked into Room 215, expecting the level of comfort, service, and professionalism one would reasonably expect from a premium property. Instead, we experienced an absolute nightmare that exposed serious lapses in staff coordination, security, and management. On the evening of the 19th, we went out for shopping and dinner and returned around 9 PM, only to discover that our key card would not open our room. Unfortunately, this was not even the first time we had experienced key card issues at this property. I went to the reception and requested that the card be checked and recoded if necessary. The staff supposedly did so, but the card still did not work. I repeated the entire process, with the same result. Since walking between our room and reception takes approximately five minutes each way, I eventually called the staff and was told someone would come to assist us. We waited for 15 minutes, but nobody showed up. I then went downstairs myself. A female receptionist came upstairs and tried another card, which also failed. She then casually informed us, "Sir, door lock ki battery khatam ho gayi hai" (the door lock's battery had run out). She went back downstairs, saying she would arrange a power bank or something similar to resolve the issue. By this point, we had already wasted approximately 30 minutes. My wife was exhausted and waiting outside our room in the lobby while fasting. Despite the circumstances, we continued to remain patient and cooperative. Another 15 minutes passed. When we went downstairs again, the same receptionist was busy handling another guest's financial transactions on a POS machine instead of ensuring that our unresolved issue was being addressed. Only after I raised the matter at the reception did a supervisor or manager intervene. We were then told that the door lock's battery was not actually the problem and that the staff would provide a master key to open our room. And then things got even worse. THE HOTEL HAD MISPLACED ITS MASTER KEY. The staff could not locate the key despite searching for it. After roughly an hour and a half of this ordeal, we were informed that a staff member had mistakenly taken the master key to the hotel's Saket property. Let that sink in. How does a hotel misplace a master key to the extent that it is taken to another property, leaving its guests locked out of their own room? This raises serious questions about the hotel's security protocols, key management, staff accountability, and supervision. We were repeatedly given timelines for the key's return. We were initially told that it would arrive by 11 PM, but the person carrying it arrived only around midnight. We were effectively stranded for approximately three hours because the hotel could not manage something as basic as access to a guest's room. In the meantime, we were eventually moved to Room 217, but that was hardly a solution. Our clothes, phone chargers, laptop, and other belongings were all locked inside Room 215. We had no access to our own possessions. The consequences went beyond mere inconvenience. My laptop was inside the locked room, and I ended up missing multiple business opportunities and important client-related work that I needed to complete that evening. A hotel stay should not end up disrupting a guest's professional commitments because of the property's own negligence. What makes this experience even more appalling is the complete absence of empathy or accountability from the management. We were paying guests at a premium hotel. We were patient, cooperative, and repeatedly requested a reasonable solution. Yet, throughout this ordeal, there was no meaningful apology, no proactive communication, and no gesture of goodwill.
