Favorit Hotel

Hotel is located in a strategic location just outside the city center and close to the metro and tram. The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable. Parking on the street in Sofia is a real problem therefore I recommend finding a near by private parking lot and leaving the car there. You can then use public transit which works great.

Third times a charm... room wise that is! The first room they gave me was a twin room despite me purposely booking this property (over the three other budget hotels nearby) to have a double room. Easy change to a double room - 304. Oh boy, did that room turn out to be awful. I could see the carpet was heavily stained and walls marked but just put it down to being a budget hotel. But when I settled in for the evening and put the aircon on, it wouldn't drop past 28C! It was 30C+ outside! Then someone below started smoking on their balcony and the aircon just sucked it in and blew it all into my room. It honestly smelled like I'd smoked a pack inside the room. Disgusting! When I took a shower the drain pipe under it was clearly disconnected as the bathroom started flooding from beneath the shower. The next day I asked to change my room again (I never do that btw). There was one left - 401. Thankfully this was a good room, and you should request it (as long as you don't mind the shower being over the bath). The air con worked well and there weren't so many stains. The mattresses in all rooms were truly awful though! Way too soft and you just sink in with no support at all. Breakfast was pretty average too. The orange juice button didn't work for 3 days, the coffee is truly disgusting (instant would be better) and the scrambled eggs were always overcooked. Would I stay here again? No, I'd try one of the other budget options in the street.

This is the worst hotel I have stayed in Europe. I would give it 1*, 3* is too much. AC didn't work in the room. The temperature outside was 34 C and in the room 30-32C. The receptionist was very argumentative and was yelling at me when i was trying to explain the issue and when I brought him to my room. He was repeating "What could I do?" "There is nothing I can do!" I told him that there should be one of three options: to call the service to fix AC, to change the room with working AC or to give me refund so I could go to another room. He refused any of these. The room didn't look clean: there were stains all over the carpet, marks all over the wall, spots on the mirrors. The room was overcharged. I stayed in better rooms for cheaper price in many European countries. This one was the worst!
