Onyado Nono Sendai Natural Hot Spring

A lovely, clean hotel with a great location and fantastic facilities. I loved the Onsen bath on the 14th floor, it was very beautiful and a good size during the busy times. The hotel seems very new and so it is very clean, and my room was absolutely lovely. I appreciated the snack gift to have with my afternoon cup of tea, also! Be aware, you won't be wearing shoes anywhere in the hotel, you take them off in the lobby and put them in secure lockers there, ask at reception if you would like some slippers.

The pillows are quite hard, but that is very common in Japan. It's also very expensive on a weekend night, for the standard of hotel it's more expensive than Osaka or Tokyo which was a bit disappointing. But it seems all hotels in Sendai are priced very high on Friday/Saturday nights unfortunately.

The hotel is about 11 minutes walk from Sendai station. You can get the subway, there is a stop right outside the hotel, but it is not a lot quicker. We liked the “shoes off when you arrive” rule, with plenty of shoe lockers. Checking was friendly, you get a free drink and then in the room there is tatami matting, Japanese “hotel wear” (gown and trousers), slippers and a really comfy low Japanese style bed. We had a small welcome gift, the room had water and was spotlessly clean. The TV lets you see how busy the laundry and baths are. The Onsen upstairs is really good but can get crowded. The free soba noodles service is amazing and you also can get free ice creams and tea/coffee.

The hotel was great but spoiled slightly by reception staff. We are a mixed Asian and European family. We speak Japanese. On arrival one receptionist audibly said to her colleague she did not want to deal with us (incorrectly assuming we didn’t speak Japanese). The other receptionist was fabulous, explained everything and was very kind. When we left the hotel we stored luggage. On return to collect our luggage, as we were taking our shoes off, a man in a blue jacket came marching over and rudely asked us what we were doing and what we wanted. He seemed surprised to find we were actually guests at the hotel, and wound his neck in a bit, but this was unacceptable hospitality for a hotel with international guests. We tried not to let it spoil what was otherwise a fabulous stay.

Come with onsen and tatami flooring upon arrival at hotel main door. Self serviced coffee machine at 1st floor. Self serviced laundry inside female onsen area. Evening free ramen. 15min slow walk from Sendai Station. On a rainy day, we took JR to Hirosetori station next to it

Breakfast is not worth the value. Quality is average
