Vintage project house

The house was very clean, comfortable, and perfectly located. It had everything we needed for our stay, including appliances, air conditioning, towels, and all the small essentials that make a stay easy and relaxing. The best part was the hospitality. Venos was extremely kind, accommodating, and responsive. He even went above and beyond when we had an unexpected issue during our stay, handling it with great understanding and making sure we felt relaxed and well taken care of. After more than 10 years of using Booking.com, he was honestly one of the best hosts we have ever had.

Nothing. Everything met our expectations and we had a very pleasant stay.

Very spacious and clean, lovely kitchen and bathroom. Beach, shops and tavernas all nearby. There was also a good bus service to Rethymno and Chania.

The outside space was quite small and was always in shade - great for the summer but a bit cool in the autumn.

Stor lägenhet med alla bekvämligheter, låg vid en tyst otrafikerad gränd. Lägenheten var välstädad.

Något dåligt avflöde i duschens golvbrunn vilket ska enligt värden vara ett välkänt problem i Kalyves men påverkade inte vår trivsel i lägenheten. Huvudgatan som är trafikerad saknar tyvärr trottoar vilket kändes sisådär att gå i framförallt på kvällen. Kalyves saknar tyvärr trottoar på flera gator och är utöver vid stranden och vid floden inte speciellt mysigt att strosa omkring. Stranden är däremot superfin och barnvänlig, vattnet är kristallklart och mycket behagligt att bada i, det finns några bra beachbar som serverar god frukost och har gratis solstolar för kunderna.

The town of Kalyves is a decent base for a Crete holiday, with local fishmonger, butchers, bakers and many other real local shops and services in addition to the usual tourist facilities. Nine of the restaurants were particularly any good. The air conditioning worked.

Hard beds. Numerous Mosquitoes and other biting insects as no door screens, therefore if you want to cook you boil in the kitchen or get bitten. Broken induction hob meant there were only two (plug in) ancient very inefficient hobs available for cooking. Only one quilt provided for when it gets cold at night. No hot water when the sun does not shine. Although parking advertised - and available on site - we were told after two days to stop using it, with no reason given, despite asking. Lots of missing or very poor kitchen equipment. No outside tap or shower. No barbeque and outside seating area very unappealing.
