Everything necessary for a self catering weekend trip in the room - even saucepans and utensils. Great views of the city. Fast lift. Decent gym.

Not much - would’ve liked more tea and coffee options but it’s not a hotel

What did you like about the property? The property itself is modern, well designed and has some great facilities. The location is also excellent for exploring Manchester, with plenty of shops, restaurants and attractions nearby. The communal areas have a really good atmosphere and there is lots to like about the overall concept of Canvas.

Unfortunately, our experience was let down by the way problems were dealt with by the front desk staff. We had no hot water and reported this to reception, but the attitude and response from the front desk staff was very disappointing. We were left waiting for nearly two hours for the issue to be resolved and eventually had to contact Booking.com ourselves to get the matter taken further. There was also another incident during our stay where approximately 2 litres of soya sauce had been burst/spilled across the middle lift floor and surrounding lift area. It was covering the floor and you had to walk through it to use the lift. We reported this to the night security/front desk, but the area was not dealt with promptly. This was particularly disappointing from a cleanliness and safety point of view. Problems can happen in any hotel, but what really matters is how quickly and professionally they are dealt with. Unfortunately, on both occasions we felt that the front desk response was poor and that we were left to chase things ourselves.
