Villa Irene: Θέα πισίνα, Θέα θάλασσα

On a scale of 1-10, we’re rating this an 11.5. ‘But the dial only goes to 10’. Yes, but, it’s an 11. From the port of Souvala, 5-8 minutes, or, from the Port of Aegina, 15-25 minutes, a large iron sand colored gate encloses a gem of a property nestled on the northern coast of Aegina. Once we pulled up to the gate to let the owner know we had arrived, a woman who appeared to have been transplanted from a classic Hollywood film and dropped in the Saronic welcomed us with open arms as if we were already a part of her family and guided us around the property. Each of the bedrooms were spacious and impeccably clean; if you keep the windows open at night, a slight breeze will pass through, rendering the air conditioning units useless; but let’s be real, it’s Greece and it can be HOT. In which case, the units will turn your room into an ice box if you wish. The living room has a big screen current generation flat screen smart tv with all of the popular streaming platforms installed, the couch is comfortable and the room is the perfect place to discuss where you’ll visit that evening, or, whether perhaps you’ll order food, stay in, and enjoy the sunset poolside from the backyard! The kitchen has every amenity you could imagine from toaster to panini press to all sorts of coffee making contraption required for stay in Greece. The cupboards have all of the utensils, plates, bowls, cups and mugs that you could need and come fully stocked with plenty of necessary condiments. The refrigerator is new and the freezer works great. Ice for your margaritas will be perfect in short time. The nearby beaches are beautiful (depending on your taste) but after seeing the property in person, there was no reason to leave the gates. But if you must, Aegina town is a thriving hotspot, Souvala has excellent food options, and you are within minutes from the monastery of St. Nektarios and the Ancient temple of Aphaia (this is one of the

Fantastic villa, in beautiful location which was very well equipped and very comfortable. The hosts met us on arrival and were very open to offering help or advice if we needed it. As it was , our every need was already catered for. The local taverna (5 minutes walk) was extremely good and there is a great little supermarket ( 3 minutes walk ). The sea is 4 minutes walk away and was gorgeous for swims. The villa has a lovely pool and plenty of outside dining and living space. All the locals were very friendly and the port of Aegina boasted lovely tavernas, bars and shops. We all loved our stay at the villa, and are looking forward to going back.
