Our experience was awesome in Movenpick hotel, all facilities are amazing

Got checked in in a different room than the one I already booked & paid for & had to stay a night in it because the staff said there are no other availabilities. Next day I had to follow up couple of times almost till mid day to get my room changed. Wasted time & ruined the whole vacation

The food menu is limited and lacks variety, and the dining area for breakfast and dinner needs updating.

Unfortunately, my stay at Mövenpick was very disappointing, especially considering the price and the hotel’s 5-star rating. Facilities and Swimming Pools One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was to enjoy the facilities in the evening. However, the operating hours were suddenly changed without any prior notice. The swimming pool near the bar was supposed to remain open until 10:00 PM, but it was suddenly closed at 7:00 PM. The main pool, games area and mini-golf area were also closed at 7:00 PM instead of 9:00 PM, even though the signs at the hotel clearly state that they close at 9:00 PM. What makes this worse is that these reduced operating hours were not mentioned on the hotel website or during the booking process. Guests should be informed about such major changes before making a reservation, especially when the facilities are an important part of the hotel experience. Games Room The games room was another disappointment. Many of the games were old, damaged, broken or poorly maintained. It clearly needs proper maintenance and refurbishment. Serious Insect Problem The amount of insects around the hotel was honestly shocking. There were large numbers of dragonflies and wasps around the garden areas, to the point where I did not feel comfortable walking through the gardens. For someone with an insect allergy, this is particularly concerning. Even worse, around the outdoor dining area there were many tiny white insects crawling around the tables. Overall, it gave me the impression that pest control around the property is simply not being handled properly. Restaurant and Food The outdoor dining area also had several problems. Apart from the insects mentioned above, the water-mist fans that are supposed to help with the heat were not working, making outdoor dining uncomfortable in the UAE summer. The food selection was also extremely disappointing for the prices being charged. There were usually only one or two proper main dishes, while most of the remaining buffet consisted of salads, cold cuts, soup and basic appetizers. The selection felt repetitive, limited and certainly not what I would expect from a 5-star hotel. Charging approximately AED 140 for dinner and AED 85 for breakfast for this level of variety and quality is very difficult to justify. At those prices, I would honestly prefer to eat outside the hotel. Room and Staff Privacy The room itself was very ordinary and, in my opinion, absolutely not worth the price compared with other 5-star hotels in the UAE. More importantly, there was a very concerning incident during our stay: A staff member knocked on our door and then opened the door without waiting for us to answer or give permission to enter. This is completely unacceptable. Knocking on a guest’s door does not automatically give staff permission to enter. Guest privacy should be taken much more seriously, especially in a 5-star hotel. Overall Unfortunately, the entire experience fell far below my expectations. Between the unexpected early closure of facilities, poorly maintained games room, serious insect problem, uncomfortable outdoor dining area, limited and overpriced food, average room quality, and the unacceptable privacy incident, I cannot understand how this experience represents a 5-star standard. For the price charged, there are many other hotels in the UAE offering significantly better facilities, food, maintenance and overall service. I would not choose to stay here again.
