Private 5 acres - View - Walk to Lake

Peaceful, private, beautiful property!

Cabin was cozy and about as we expected. It does have a tight turn around space, but can be managed. We loved the privacy and spent lots of time on the deck. Would stay again.

This place was amazing. The owners were great. The amenities were great. Everything was very welcoming and it was well appointed. The location was fantastic and we had such a great time.

I waited almost a week before writing the review of our stay at Whitetail Retreat hoping my opinion might change. It has not. The review comes as a mixed bag of pros and cons. Whitetail Retreat might be the perfect place for someone but for us it was not. We came to spend our 40th wedding anniversary doing what we enjoy, fishing and relaxing in the quiet of the woods. Believing that a cabin on 5 acres with a "short 10 minute walk " to the lake sounded ideal we decided to book the place. Privacy, peace, quiet and a place to fish. Who could ask for more? The reviews on VRBO were great and we were looking forward to our trip. We arrived right at check-in time. The cabin was easy to find, door was unlocked and the interior was inviting. After having spent the previous hours driving we decided to walk down to the lake to check it out. You can imagine our utter surprise to find a NO FISHING/HUNTING sign posted at the entrance to the trail leading to the lake. Although disappointed by the NO FISHING sign we continued our walk down to the lake. The descent wasn't too bad but the trek back up is not for the faint of heart. Even as people who walk or ride bikes many miles everyday we struggled with the hike back to the cabin. My 73 year old husband didn't think he was going to make it back and had to stop many times to catch his breath. Dogs barking, filthy outdoor space, not relaxing. We left early.
