Marengo

Fantastic views from all living areas. Excellent access from Marengo on Great Ocean Rd to Otway National Park and Otway Forest Park - great for sight seeing and walking. Close to Apollo Bay for supplies but without the tourist traffic. The property was spacious and very comfortable with all facilities in good condition - very comfortable beds. The daily visits of local birds to the verandah were wonderful. We would have been very happy to stay on longer than the week.

Even though marketing material noted the steep driveway and different levels within the house, we were not prepared for such a steep driveway to the front door - quite daunting in the wet conditions of our arrival. We parked on the road and carried all our belongings up the steep driveway then another flight of stairs to the main living areas. We were glad not to have very young children with us - or have any mobility issues. We found the house really cold for the first 2 days or so. The wood burner heater took a while to warm the house - we used other radiators in bedrooms etc. Electric blankets on beds would have been welcome. Note : This was mid winter in one of the coldest weeks of the year.
