About this house rental
Village and family house, located in the heart of a "small town of character" where life is good, with a breathtaking view of the river. The house is close to all the shops of the village and quiet. This house has 4 bedrooms for 8 people.
The house is located in the village of Chailland (Mayenne). The village is dominated by the rock of the Virgin at the crossroads of several hiking trails. The commune is bordered by the forest of Mayenne with its 3600 hectares...
House completely renovated at the beginning of 2022.
At the Maison de la Rivière you will find:
On the first floor:
‣ A large equipped kitchen that seats 8 people
‣ a living room and dining table
‣ An area with washing machine, vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board.
‣ a toilet
‣ a wooden terrace overlooking the garden and the river with gas barbecue, dining table, garden furniture and awning.
On the 1st floor: you will find three bedrooms:
‣ Two bedrooms with parquet floors with a double bed (160) with river views and storage space
‣ a bedroom with a double bed (140) and its dressing room.
‣ two bathrooms with shower and two toilets
On the 2nd and last floor: you will find:
‣ a bedroom with double bed (160) (possibility of transforming the bed into twin beds)
The gîte offers various services:
‣ Towels and bed linen provided
‣ Mandatory cleaning (80 euros per stay extra)
‣ Kitchen equipment: dishwasher, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, kettle, toaster)
‣ Baby equipment: cot, high chair, baby bath
‣ Summer equipment: garden table + 8 chairs + awning + barbecue, to enjoy outdoor meals.
- Chailland : organic market on Fridays, mini-market (Coccimarket), 1 creperie, 1 restaurant/bar/tobacco
- Ernée: hypermarkets (Hyper U / Carrefour Market) at 9 km
- Laval: hypermarkets (Leclerc / Carrefour) 20 km away.
Hiking (rock and chestnut grove site...) or mountain biking, river fishing (1st category depending on opening date - permit required)
Laval or Vitré train station: 30 min
A81 motorway: 15 min
Saint Malo and its ramparts at 1h30 Mont Saint Michel and its bay at 1h15.

Gîte totalement rénové avec goût, dans 1 cadre paisible, magnifique au bord de la rivière, avec 1 belle terrasse pour profiter de la vue, proche des commerces (20 metres)
Chailland, petite citée de caractère, est proche de plusieurs sites médiévaux à découvrir. Chemins pour randonnées pedestres accessibles proche du Gîte.
Encore merci à Nathalie, son mari et leurs fils Valentin pour leur accueil chaleureux.
Nous avons passé un beau séjour.

Spacious property in a beautiful village. A very friendly welcome on arrival. Property is old which adds to the authentic French experience. However, inside the property has been completely and stylishly renovated and modernised to an extremely high standard. Outside decking is delightful. It is mostly covered by a large awning which makes it a very social space in very warm or even in wet weather. Beautiful views of the river. Steps lead down to a garden area where you can sit at the river and enjoy the peaceful scenery. This property has everything you could possibly need – a home from home. The village itself is lovely and the residents very friendly. Lovely boulanger at the end of the street; creperie/bar and mini supermarket also nearby. Ideally located to visit Mayenne and to see Château de la Motte-Husson (Channel 4s 'Escape to the Chateau'). Also nearby are beautiful towns such as Vitré, Laval, Fougères and many more. All in all, this property is wonderful. Thank you Nathalie and family for our wonderful stay. Truly an excellent property. The Healy family, Ireland.
