The original house likely dates from the 1870s and retains significant historical charm combined with modern amenities! The Riverside honors its hotel roots with eight tastefully appointed bedrooms—six offering stunning river views. Gather in the spacious kitchen, complete with a convection oven, perfect for preparing meals for the whole crew. Step outside to dine al fresco on the covered front porch as the river flows just beyond, or unwind in the backyard with a cozy campfire and marshmallows under the stars.

Looking for more space? Your rental includes the attached owner's apartment. It includes an additional kitchen and first-floor living area, ideal for multi-family getaways or guests seeking extra privacy. Note, the apartment is on the first floor, but there is an interior step down from the main house into the apartment.

The Kendall Trail starts right across the river from the Riverside and takes you along the river to the ghost town of Kendall. Enjoy outdoor adventures including kayaking, whitewater rafting, and fishing on the Yough! There are local adventure tour companies in Friendsville who are available to take you on whitewater and other eco tours. We are easy walking distance to the Friendsville Community Park, a large, open greenspace on the Bear Creek with a walking/running trail and fitness equipment for adults. The Park boasts a beautiful playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a volleyball court for your enjoyment. Friendsville offers an historic walking tour, and you'll find the Riverside at stop #3 on the tour.

The Riverside is centrally located to attractions in Western MD, West Virginia, and Southwestern Pennsylvania and serves as a perfect base for exploration. We are 15 minutes from Deep Creek Lake and the four-season Wisp ski resort. Visit and hike Garrett County's beautiful state parks, including Sang Run, Swallow Falls, and Herrington Manor. Enjoy horseback riding, boating, ATV rentals, zip-line adventures, and so much more.

For anyone in your group who prefers quieter activities, you'll love visiting the Deep Creek Lavender Farm for unique lavender gifts and touring the local wineries in Garrett County and Pennsylvania. Spend an afternoon at the Casselman River Bridge and Artisan Village in Grantsville. Try out the local Spas in McHenry, antique stores and shopping in Oakland, and fine dining throughout the Deep Creek area! You will be 40 minutes from Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Fallingwater and 40 minutes from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.
