Smashing Inn

The location was really good, away from the main road but only few minutes walk away. On Poya day our hostess prepared us a lovely meal, an assortment of curries adjusting the spiciness for the kids. We enjoyed lovely breakfast and one day when we went for an early hike, she prepared a packed breakfast.

Simple accommodation with a local family. Don't expect any luxury, but the stay here is worth it! Staying with a local family that tries to do their best for you is an incredible experience. The hostess is very kind and helpful. She cooked us an excellent traditional Sri Lankan dinner. A beautiful garden, in the morning during breakfast we observed monkeys and a view of the greenery. If you want to experience local hospitality and kindness with simple furnishings and accommodation for literally just a few dollars - this is a great place.

The bathroom was in poor condition, but it was adequate for showering. With this kind of accommodation, you have to soak in the atmosphere and not expect hotel-like lodging.

The dinner was really nice at the home stay! The owner gives a lot of tips about where to go, how to take the public transport, etc. He even helped us to go on the bus to Kandy :)

The bathroom had a small leak and there was no hot water. You only had one blanket, which does not look like it is washed very often
