Big Bay Getaway offers you an experience that none of our other homes can. The meandering tree lined driveway leads you to a beautiful custom built 3,500 square foot home with magnificent views of the lake and large SANDY BEACH, right out the back door! Enjoy the views from all the main areas of this open concept home. Perfect for a family getaway or couple's retreat! Huge deck with new lounge and dining seating. Lake Petenwell is the 2nd largest inland lake in Wisconsin with 23,000 acres, featuring excellent boating, swimming and fishing. Explore and take in nature at the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge with visitor center, walking paths, lookout towers and bicycling this 44,000 acre park. Only 10 minutes to Nekoosa HoChunk casino, 15 minutes to the WI Rapids, and 45 minutes to the Wisconsin Dells attractions for a full day of activities for the kids. Or take a day trip to Spring Green, Frank Lloyd Wright center, and the House on the Rock. Relaxation or water-front activities ... the choice is yours!
Feel free to enjoy the clean, sandy beach directly in front of the home—perfect for launching your kayak, sunbathing, and swimming. You’ll also have access to the community pier just a short walk from the backyard, great for fishing or jumping in for a swim. You may tie off your boat on the edge during the day, but long-term or overnight docking is not allowed.
If you are bringing your own watercraft or renting locally, please plan accordingly, as overnight docking is not permitted anywhere on Lake Petenwell. You will need to trailer your watercraft each evening. The property has plenty of space for trailers, and the nearest boat launch is just minutes away.
Please also note that the shoreline is owned by the local power company, and we must follow their regulations. This includes removing all items such as toys, chairs, and kayaks from the beach or shoreline each night and bringing them back up to the house.

The main floor features three spacious bedrooms, including a luxurious primary suite with a king-size bed, private bath, and access to a private deck where you can enjoy serene lake views. The second bedroom offers a queen bed, while the third is furnished with another king beds, ideal for family or friends. A full hall bath completes this level.
Off the kitchen, a sunroom invites you to relax in plenty of comfortable seating while soaking in more of the stunning lake scenery. Step out onto the deck for a peaceful retreat with beautiful vistas.
Venture downstairs to the lower level where you’ll find a spacious rec room perfect for movie or game night. This inviting area features a large TV, another cozy fireplace, and a comfy sectional couch for ultimate relaxation. With a selection of games and a table for friendly competition, this is the perfect space to unwind. The lower level also includes a generous bedroom with 2 queen beds, as well as an ensuite bath for added privacy and convenience.

Beautiful, clean house. We were disappointed that we couldn't swim because of the horrible algae. Also, as advertised, there was a ping pong table, but no useable balls with ratty rackets. The dishwasher worked well until the last morning when it wouldn't turn on. We were thinking circuit breaker? Plenty of quality untensils, towels. Such a peaceful, quiet setting!

We had an amazing stay at this one-of-a-kind family beach front home on Lake Petenwell! The location is absolutely beautiful, with direct access to the beach just steps away. The house had tons of space and great amenities, making it perfect for our group. Communication with the owners was seamless—they were incredibly accommodating and easy to work with. Highly recommend for families of all ages looking for a peaceful and fun getaway!

House and property are absolutely beautiful! All the rooms are well appointed, spacious, and very clean. Plenty of parking for my son’s wakeboard boat and son in-laws fishing boat. The grandkids loved playing in the basement and on the sandy beach. The large deck and fire pit area provided great family time in the evenings with awesome views of the lake. Ability to bring my dog was so appreciated. Would definitely return to this home!! We loved it!!

Sunday, Jul 27 - Friday, Aug 1. The house and the deck were quite lovely, with nice interior decorations. Beach area was fairly rustic. Nice fire ring near the house.The house was lacking beach towels. There weren't any matches, etc. for lighting the fire. The house was advertised as sleeping 12, but there was a lack of silverware for feeding our group of ten. Also, there were only enough bed spaces for sleeping nine. One of the grandchildren had to sleep with his parents.The most serious problem for this house on a lake, was that it was nearly impossible to do any outdoor activities on the property due to swarms of biting black flies. This made the property unusable. It was suggested that we spray with Cutter's, but it was not supplied at the house, and it would have had no effect on the lake. The grandchildren were very disappointed that the paddleboards they brought were unusable due to the flies. For as much as we paid for a lakefront vacation home rental, we were not able to use the lakefront. It was not worth what we paid. We would not consider returning.
