Shirakawa Seiryu-an Annex is located on the east side of Shirakawa, in the heart of many touristic places.
It offers convenient access to numerous famous places such as Gion, Yasaka Shrine, Chion-in Temple, Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Sanjusangen-do Temple, Heian Shrine, Ginkaku-ji Temple, Nanzen-ji Temple, and Eikan-do Temple.
It is approximately an 8-minute walk away from Higashiyama Sanjo Bus Stop, Higashiyama Subway Station, and Sanjo Keihan Station. 24h convenience stores and shopping streets are also walking distance away from the location. Seiryu-an Annex is a traditional Kyoto townhouse with over 100 years of history ; because car traffic is prohibited in the area, the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful at night.

A beautiful and well maintained house in a lovely neighborhood. Close to a park, shrine, and food options. We greatly enjoyed our time there.

We really enjoyed the location of this property. It was a short walk from Maruyama park and easily accessible from two train/subway lines. You could walk to the Philosophers path and Ginkakuji to the northeast as well as the Higashiyama district and Kiyomizudera to the southeast. There was a small grocery store not far away.
The property was large and could easily fit 6 people. The rooms are all tatami mat with futons for sleeping. It was quiet and clean. The kotatsu (table) had a sunken area where you put your feet. It could be hard for those with limited mobility to reach the far side.
The kitchen was perfectly adequate for our needs, and the host left tea and coffee which were appreciated. We also appreciated the umbrellas which we used every day. The host gave us very clear directions on how to get to the property. We had a lovely visit.

This place was amazing!! I loved the traditional Japanese feel but with all the modern updates. Well located, a short walk from Higashimayama station. You can walk to shrines, the main river, shopping, etc.
I would recommend to anyone and would stay again.

This apartment is beautiful and newly renovated in the traditional style. We walked to shopping downtown and also to shrines in the mountain lowlands. Please note that the bedding is on the floor on mats and not a typical western mattress.
