Hostel Gdańsk Szafarnia 10 Old Town

Cheapest option in town. Located right in the city center. Common areas were nice and clean.

The room felt a bit worn out. Might have been mostly due to the stained carpets, but it gave off this feeling of unkept. Perhaps change, or remove dirty carpets and it would inprove. They have no curtains on the beda at all. I'm not a fan of that choice. Even a half curtain can offer a semblance of privacy in an otherwise very public bedroom shared with other people. Plus as long as the main lights are on, you have nothing shielding you from its glare. Some beds could be spaced apart a bit more because there's two bunkeds that join together in a corner where you either have to choose to put your head next to another person's feet, or swap sides but then have the ceiling light and AC right in your face... Definitely bring an eye mask for sleeping in this place.

Perfect location, clean, comfortable beds, cheap alternative to a hotel. Generally clean, friendly staff, they even opened the roof terrace for me to take some photos!

First experience in a hostel and as an adult solo traveller, I wouldn’t repeat it, simply because sharing with another 7-8 people means there’s someone coming and gong until 3-4am, rustling through bags, zipping/unzipping cases, dropping stuff, snoring, coughing….bottom line, I didn’t sleep, but that’s what shared accommodation means, I suppose.
