The pool which the owner refused us access to before checkin.

I arrived with my partner 2 hours before checkin. The owner refused to let us stay on the property land, and said the most he would do is look after our luggage. The reason we chose the property was as because we were travelling in 40 degree heat, and the place had a pool. Checkin was at 4pm and the owner with a very unaccommodating or friendly attitude said ‘these are the rules’. There was only one other couple by the pool, so letting us stay was of zero consequence to the owner. Nothing was lost in translation as I am fluent in French, the owner was simply intent on abiding to his rules, because rules are rules and he wouldn’t let common sense prevail. After he asked us to leave the property, we drove around looking for somewhere to eat / sit for 2 hours but having paid the full fee for the property, we felt so uncomfortable staying there that we returned to collect our luggage, lost our money and had the most wonderful stay at the Hotel Le Cloitre St Louis in Avignon.
