Poor lighting in room

What a wonderful property and so well located for the centre of Verdun - lovely to stay on this boat and our room (1 of 8) was lovely. Staff were great too and the breakfast was fantastic. The parking isn’t entirely free and not onsite but it was just over the road and free on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday afternoon and on other days between midday and 2pm (see picture). You really need to use the ‘Easy Park’ app (charged a slight fee). The parking charge is 1 euro per hour but for some reason if you want to pay for a full day it costs you 17 euro (see photo). With the app you should be able to buy a ticket for the morning and then buy another for the afternoon from wherever you are (as long as you have signal). You can pay in advance for parking and the app takes into account the free periods. We never had a problem finding a parking space.

A personal thing for me is that the black tea option at breakfast was Earl Grey and I would have preferred a breakfast tea (not a fan of Earl Grey). Plenty of coffee options but I don’t like coffee.

Very small bedroom. Very small bathroom with black walls and fittings and incredibly poor lighting. The hotel advertises on-site parking…. There isn’t. We had to park our motorcycle on the pavement near the boat…. Not on site. I’m going back to Verdun next year but it’s unlikely that I’ll stay here.

The location was ok, unusual, only a few minutes walk to town

Got there at 4, reception shut and locked until 5. No parking, had to park on the road and pay. Very noisy, being a barge there’s not the usual domestic plumbing, pumps kick in when the wc is flushed. Understandable but we could hear every toilet on the barge flushing. Reception locked again when we returned early evening, so no drinks before bedtime. Breakfast not great for the cost. Quirky but could do better.
