Pronoia Casa de Playa

The location is unbeatable. I went swimming in the sea every day. The owner/host is welcoming and generous. I liked the communal spaces; almost all of the guests I met during my stay were conscientious, open minded, and good vibes. I hope to go back!

Each structure is split into two rooms with a shared bathroom between the two. I had to endure some very loud snoring a couple of the nights and this same person forgot to unlock my bathroom door from the inside after finishing to use it. Just annoyances, nothing otherworldly. All my other neighbors during my stay were awesome.

I loved this isolated beachfront camp. Hammocks and beach chairs outside with lots of couches inside. Nice big community kitchen with two fridges (bring your groceries). One paddle board, one canoe, ping pong table, strong Wifi even a TV. Great place to get away from life. Service is good but you have to ask for it. Only cold water showers with little water pressure. Wash your hair before you come. 🤣

The beach is completely covered in tons of smelly Sargassum. Not swimmable. Very disappointing. Bugs were starting to get very bad. The beach garbage was also a sad sight.

We had an ocean front room. The bed was comfortable, the room itself was fine , with a large bed, a big couch and a fridge.

The bathroom was not workable. There was no shower head in the bathroom and no water came out of the shower when turned on. Very hard to be a girl on her period in this place so we left after 1 night even though we booked for 3 nights. I get this is a hostel and the rooms weren’t expensive however, if you are a property you must declare that your shower doesn’t work and isn’t operational. The internet also didn’t work properly and we couldn’t log on anywhere. This also needs to be disclosed. You cannot advertise you have things you do not have. We got here during bad weather and this place is so remote with nothing going on if it’s stormy so you need internet at the very least. We didn’t ask for a refund because we didn’t want to deal with the hassle. Hopefully the property can buy a showerhead and fix the shower with the money we didn’t recoup. Also this is not the fault of the property but the sargassum seaweed was in full force and it smelt so bad. We went for a walk on the beach and it was honestly so so sad, there was so much rubbish I wanted to cry. We couldn’t stay here because it was so incredibly sad. The area needs to galvanise and clean up the rubbish. Coming to this property was a big lesson that more isolated doesn’t mean nicer nature in Mexico. The seaweed and the rubbish issue is huge in this entire area and I would give it a wide berth if you just want a nice Mexican holiday. I feel bad for the hosts who are very nice, but at the very least clean the rubbish and seaweed on your own property every day .
