This Outstanding, Elegant home is in the beautiful mountains between Atenas and Orotina. La Carolina is the place to enjoy your well-deserved tropical vacation at higher elevations, with breathtaking views, striking sunsets, and cooler temperatures.
The inside and outside areas of this large, enchanting home are magnificent. A central focal point is the huge covered veranda with the exquisite solar-heated infinity pool that hovers above the abundant jungle underneath. The gas-heated jacuzzi with a waterfall adds to the leisure lifestyle that we offer to our guests.
Enjoy the combination of massive distant views, lush jungle, and a wide variety of tropical birds and wildlife, all right there at your doorstep. White-faced capuchin monkeys and Howler monkeys are regular visitors to La Carolina.
Imagine starting your mornings with a delicious cup of Costa Rican coffee and a fresh tropical fruit breakfast, all while taking in the expansive view that's mesmerizing. The long-stretched floor plan is smartly designed to allow every room direct access to the covered outdoor veranda. With its exquisite grand open floor plan, well-appointed chef’s kitchen, and fantastic outdoor deck, this spectacular home guarantees a fabulous vacation.
The huge main bedroom has a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a double vanity sink. The two guest rooms are nicely located on the other side of the house for complete privacy. Guest room 1 and guest room 2 both have a queen-size bed. In the hallway, there is a spacious full bathroom to share. All bedrooms have direct access to the covered veranda.
Note: Atenas/San Mateo has the best weather in Costa Rica. Warm days give way to a wonderful 20 degrees in the evening. We sleep with our windows open and maybe a fan on. When you want to use the AC in the main bedroom, we charge $10 per day/night.
Our property management team is multilingual and from the Netherlands (English, Dutch, Spanish, and German). They are ready to welcome you to La Carolina and will do everything possible to make your stay successful.
As an additional service to our house guests, our management team offers a fee-based airport pick-up and drop-off to help you avoid the potential hassles involved in the transitions into and out of your time in Costa Rica.
It is something to consider, particularly when you have nighttime travel plans, but it is a nice comfort in any event. They also provide car rentals and tours to all corners of the country, including visits to several volcanoes and waterfalls, Catamaran Sailing trips, an Organic Coffee Farm, exciting outdoor activities, and custom-made tours to our guests' requests throughout Costa Rica.
Everything is set up to your ease, from grocery service to having your fridge stocked with your favorite groceries upon arrival, a home-cooked meal ready for you on your arrival day, and a professional, relaxing massage at the house. Our house managers are prepared to serve.
With its central location, it is easy to visit the Pacific beaches (about 45 minutes), stroll around authentic little towns like Orotina (10 minutes) and Atenas (25 minutes), or venture out to National Parks and other activities.

The property was beyond beautiful, the house, the views and the property all were beautiful. The pictures don’t even do it justice. The property manager was easy to get in touch with and very responsive. The home was exactly as listed. You will see all kinds of animals and insects all over the property. I did not love the cameras in all the bedrooms. I was uncomfortable changing or sleeping comfortably at night (I usually sleep with very little clothing on) with the cameras in the bedroom. This was not significant enough to change the rating though.

The house is incredible and the views and nature even more so. Sandra was very helpful with any possible questions we had and made check in and out fast and simple.

Amazing views of the mountains and valley. Spectacular night time storm watching from the spacious veranda. Relaxing in the infinity pool while parrots, toucans and a multitude of bird species fly by. Howler monkeys calling in the distance. An absolute dream for wildlife enthusiasts. The home is clean, stocked and spacious. Everything you need is at your disposal. Bed was comfortable and a/c in primary bedroom allowed for a restful sleep.
