Amazigh Family Riad

Brothers Hassan and Mustafa are exceptional hosts, and know everyone in town, so were able to organise my impromptu hike up Toubkal with no fuss or paperwork, merely a gentlemanly shake of hands, and a lift down to the rendezvous. I had dinner elsewhere, but breakfast, on their beautiful roof-terrace, was unhurried and generous.

Nothing to submit here - it was all splendid.

We had a lovely stay. The scenery and the views are absolutely beautiful. The rooms are thoughtfully designed and well built, with great attention to detail. :) The rooms are comfortable, and the surroundings are very peaceful. A taxi can take you as far as a mosque, and from there the road up to the riad is a little more difficult, but still manageable. Getting to the village is quite an adventure — about a 25-minute walk, going over water, rocks, and a bit of everything! :D I personally enjoyed it, but I probably wouldn’t recommend it for elderly people or anyone with mobility difficulties.

There was no air conditioning or heating in our room, at least not in ours. Unfortunately, the internet connection was very poor and hardly anything would load. There was also not much hot water available. The bidet shower next to the toilet was not very convenient to use, as it requires both hands — the water can only be turned on and off at the bottom, rather than at the end of the hose, which makes it a little awkward to use. These were the only negative points we experienced, and nothing was particularly serious.

The location is very good. It's located upon a hill. The RIAD itself is also very nice and clean. Dinner and breakfast were also tasty.

The only thing that bothered me is that I thought I didn't pay the tourist taxes yet. When I asked for it the host told me I had to pay 120 dirham for 1 night and 2 people. I felt like that was way too much and then I checked my booking invoice just in case to see if I hadn’t payed it already. I did. So he not only took advantage of my forgetting about paying it, he also asked a way higher price than the original price. Quite a scam move if you ask me. So pay attention to these things. This is the only reason why my review is not that high.
