Great space with rustic looking furniture that goes with the historical vibe of where the property is located. I loved the location as well because it is centrally located and has everything that you would like to do in and around Zanzibar city easily accessible with short walks. The amenities provided was also perfect for a nice self-cooking homestay. The washrooms were also spacious and clean and spotless. We had to leave very late in the night and because of its central location, we were able to easily find a cab to the airport just outside the property. And the view and the balcony - is simply outstanding. Watching the sunset from the balcony over a cup of coffee was definitely one of the highlights.

3 things mainly: 1. The way to enter the property from behind the Livingstone restaurant seems very old and completely detached from the main restaurant. That seemed a bit off-putting for us when we first arrived - but the presence of a security guard at the bottom of the stairs gave us confidence that the security is not compromised. 2. We had to leave late at night and the closure of restaurant with no dedicated reception for the homestay meant we had to just leave the keys at the place of the security personnel before leaving. 3. In traditional hotels or homestays accompanied by a restaurant of the same brand, we can usually find help from a concierge to help with a cab booking for airport transfers late at night - but since the restaurant was closed, the restaurant staff were not very helpful with booking a transfer cab for us.

Great location close to Forodhani Park and spacious balcony overlooking the beach and sea and vantage point to observe local activities. Spacious room and external kitchen. Reasonable pricing.

Poor facilities that can be easily fixed. Not a single towel rack or hook in the bathroom. Broken commode seat and broken doors on sink cabinet. The Swahili bed is real high and a footstool would help greatly. Even the balcony carpet was upside down. As the building is being renovated the access from ground floor is dusty. Host was not very responsive and staff to check in at restaurant below were hard to locate.
