Location, you can leave your car & walk along the beaches. There are 2 pubs that offer food nearby that you can walk to. The location is quiet.
The beds are very comfy - the hot tubs are outside & clean. The staff were very helpful.
Sadly, when we booked our stay on mobile app, it said we had a hot tub. When we got to reception this was. not the case. however they did up grade us but the hot tub was broken. The Gardens rooms were fully booked on our 2 nd night, so the reception team allowed us to stay in a room with a working hot tub & then moved us to the upgraded larger room with the broken hot tub. (in this room the coffee mugs & wine glasses were dirty! But overall we enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely loved our stay at the garden room.
What a beautiful place, it was so modern and cosy, not to mention the hot tub was so relaxing. Me and my partner both said this is one of the best weekend stays we have booked and we have done so many.

Rooms were decorated in amazing style, everything was spotless. It felt like it was in the middle of nowhere without leaving any amenities behind.
Nothing - it was perfect

Stunning location, welcoming staff. Garden room was well presented lovely decor and clean
We didn’t dislike anything, one aspect was breakfast room could have been more spacious.

Very spacious rooms with comfy beds and very comfortable furnishings. Very dog friendly and dogs are catered for just as much as people, which is a lovely touch. The amenities in the room are great and you are provided with everything you could possibly need to make the stay comfortable. The staff are so kind and go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. I have stayed both in the hotel and the garden rooms, and all spaces are really lovely with excellent attention to detail.
The grounds are beautiful and very close to Joiners Arms for great food and pints, and they also offer takeaway fish and chips which is ideal after a long walk.
Amazing location, so close to Lower Newton Beach and great coastal walks. Great location to drive further into Northumberland.
There was a wedding on in the main hotel. It would have been good to have been informed about this when booking because our neighbors were quite loud all evening and into the early hours.
Our garden room shared an entrance with another room and the walls were quite thin so we were awoken in the early hours both evenings we stayed there. This of course wasn't the hotels fault and it would depend on who is in the next door room, but it's just good to be mindful of this if you're hoping for a quiet stay. There are other garden rooms that are further from the hotel and don't share an entrance with another room, so it would have been ideal to have been made aware of the wedding and have the option to be moved to a more isolated room.

DO NOT STAY!!
I received a call one hour before we were due to check in that they had to turn off and service their hot tub lodges me and my partner where due to stay in, i ended the call asking if i could ring back so i was able to discuss my option with my partner and the lady said that was okay, between me and my partner is took us over 70 phone calls on two different numbers for them to finally answer us, they said they would issue a FULL REFUND which it was been 4 weeks and we have still not received anything!!!!

Unique an lovely setting for a night away
Be very careful when booking - the cosy rooms DO NOT have a hot tub. I should’ve read more carefully.
The rear of the property (outside area) of our room was up against the site external wall and could use a little bit more attention to make it look nice.

The room was warm, plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits, there was plenty of toiletries, towels and bath robes with slippers.
The room was very small, the floor wasn’t very clean and it had an awful musty damp smell, we had to go off site to a pub for our breakfast but after saying that the pub was lovely and the breakfast was excellent.

Sadly I was unable to stay at the Garden rooms due to confusion with the booking. Staff were really helpful and selected a room in the hotel to stay in instead sadly the room I was initially placed in had issues with noise. The staff were extremely helpful and moved me into a more suitable room.
Although the staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful I was disappointed with the fact no refund was offered for the price difference in room. The room was lovely however not what I was originally hoping for. Still had a lovely stay and it is a beautiful hotel of a hotel is what you are hoping to stay in 🙂

Fantastic location, very close / walkable to the beach. A couple of nice pubs also within walking distance. The accommodation was clean, tidy and well thought out. It was a cold weekend, we arrived and the place was very warm, which was nice! We brought the dogs, which were allowed, we were given a couple of bowls, a bed and some doggy treats. Could not fault.
The room was a tad smaller than the pictures would lead you to believe, it was still a good size, but we were expecting a little bit more room. The bathroom was a good size.

It was quite expensive for 2 nights but was booked as a special birthday treat.

The price of a drink , but that did not change the overall experience

Too warm, if that’s a negative!

The location was excellent for Bamburgh and Alnwick. Easy walks to beaches and dog friendly pubs.
Overlooked by other properties so felt a lack of privacy. And it was just luck if you got noisy neighbours or not. It said private entrance to each property- simply not true. Had to be asked to be moved which made it a bit stressful at start but staff were extremely helpful.

Brand new, super tidy and clean. Couldn’t ask for much more. Great walks to pub and to beach. Staff couldn’t do enough for you.
Free cot provided? Bring your own!! Didn’t provide a mattress, we had to ask for one (apparently guidelines driven).
Pebble walkways - if I was pushed for a negative. Difficult if you’re wearing heels or pushing a pram.

Spacious room, hot tub.
Although breakfast can be served in the room, which is a great option (no charge) , the breakfast sandwich was not nice. The bread was dry and the sausages were also dry and tasteless. It's such a shame that so many other areas are good, breakfast really let it down.

We stayed in a deluxe garden room with hot tub, good points were:
Easy check in, just collect you key from the little office as you drive in and deposit it in the box when you leave
Room was nicely appointed although looked nothing like the picture
Rooms were lovely and warm
Comfy bed and bedding but the beds were 2 singles pushed together??
Very good breakfast at the joiners was a plus.
Bad points
We paid £435 for one night, this included breakfast but not evening meal, I then paid an additional £30 to take a dog for the £30 I got a dirty old York dog bed, a tiny tub of treats, 2 poo bags and 2 dog bowls to use - not good vfm
For the cost of the room I’d have expected far more, perhaps a basket of goodies or a complimentary bottle of wine? For nearly £500 for one night we got nothing.
By far the worst thing is the gravel! Gravel everywhere, virtually impossible to walk on, nearly set my neck several times and the ‘path’ to the joiners is so dark, combine that with the gravel and I have no idea how we made it back in one piece with the bad weather we experienced whilst there.
Unfortunately for us a couple staying around us clearly had a few too many and blasted loud music then had an argument…
As we left we noticed someone asleep in there car with a coat covering the windscreen, maybe that was the husband of the fighting couple! All in all not as bad stay but nothing amazing and definitely not good value for money, we stayed at Charlton hall for less a few months ago and that was amazing.
See above! Gravel so dangerous, very dark paths, rowing couples, not good value for money as not worth what we paid, dog fee an absolute rip off, 2 beds pushed together, no gift basket or snacks/drinks in room for the price we paid there should’ve been. Hot tub dirty with slime on top of water.

Lovely room which was part of the Newton Hall estate, just perfect for attending a wedding. Great location.
A little on the pricey side.

English breakfast was good in nice surroundings of nearby Joiners Arms.
Room was very clean.
We were at the hall for a wedding and this was very well organised. Excellent wedding. Lovely hall.
We were in a garden room for 2 nights. The patio furniture was damaged so unsafe to sit on and the chiminea stove was dirty very full of cinders. The floor below the room door was swollen making it very hard to open and close door - I pulled my back opening. The shared front door to the building would not close properly. There were 3 mirrors in the room, but none were well lit.

Location fantastic, room was well designed and had been well thought out
We had issues that none of outside lights worked so couldn’t use the decking later on and the hot tub had a leak so no water in the morning
8.0 / 10.0
Location and setting was great.
No dog bed despite being charged £30 for 2 nights and a request from us before we arrived for the dog bed (as advertised on website) try to justify the cost. Also had to ask for the chiminea to be emptied on arrival as it was full of ash and it had no gate/ cover on the front to prevent fire spitting out

Great location, beautiful venue, garden rooms individually decorated, had nice toiletries and comfortable bed.
Some bits of furniture looking tired and cord on kettle far too short (wouldn't reach the socket from the table or the floor).

Location great, receptionist very friendly and helpful upon arrival.
The room smelt or damp / mould (and to be honest we should have flagged this when we first arrived but didn’t) and the adjoining cabin had kids running around until gone midnight. Not Newton Halls fault but the cabins are poorly built. No windows to open / no air con meant the rooms were very hot and stuffy

Loved how the rooms were tucked away, it felt quite European in design
The affiliation with the Joiners Arms, we found it quite disappointing

fabulous little cabin in the garden, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. So memorable! Also the connection with The Joiners Arms was very handy - we had both dinner and breakfast there and both were great.
The bathroom was a bit moldy - bathroom door didn't close because it had swollen in the frame, and it caused the accommodation to smell damp. The seals around the bottom of the shower, and the bathroom, had failed so there is probably a damp problem under the floor! Didn't spoil our stay though.

It was unique and although within a complex, felt very private
Loved the clever mini kitchen within the room
Although it was fantastic I can’t help but think that over £400 was a little steep for one night

It’s was beautiful, even though it did nothing but rain the entire time we managed to somehow briefly start the fire outside whilst we enjoyed the hot tub it was really cosy and the room was comfortable and warm. Very peaceful location. Staff in the main hotel was lovely too, thankfully she let me borrow an umbrella since I wasn’t prepared for the weather at all haha.
We loved it! But I would mention just so you’re aware (it didn’t really bother us) but there was a lot of tiny bugs in the bathroom behind the sink/under the mirror and in the tv but with it being summer and quite humid at the time it’s not unsurprising. Didn’t affect the stay at all though and would go back (when it’s sunnier!)

Although just an hour away from home, it was amazing to get away, walk to gorgeous beaches and then relax in the hot tub on our return. The Garden Rooms had everything we needed! 100% recommend this place.
Nothing it was fabuloys

Beautiful locations. The gardens were really well planted and very calm in atmosphere. The rooms were well designed in all facing different directions so created sense of privacy. The additions of a hot tub and wood burner helped relaxations. Quality fixtures and fittings (great shower, lovely bath products etc). Friendly staff, super comfortable bed and stylish interiors. Nearby beach is quiet and beautiful.
Nothing. I would love to stay again and will recommend.
