About this cottage rental
Situated on the outskirts of a quiet hamlet in Chives, this charming cottage with its stone walls, exposed beams and original fireplace has recently been fully restored. An ideal space for 2/4 people which includes kitchen, living and dining area, patio, garden furniture and BBQ. Guests can enjoy relaxing around the swimming pool, picnicking in the orchard or walking the surrounding countryside. A totally tranquil place to enjoy your stay.
Located in the courtyard garden of the main Charantaise property, facing East and therefore benefiting the sun from early morning to late afternoon.
Access to the property is from the sun terrace into the main living, kitchen and, dining areas.
The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven/grill, fridge with small freezer compartment, toaster, kettle, crockery, and cutlery.
The living area has a large sofa which can be made into a comfortable double bed for the 3/4 person and benefits from a log burner, ideal for keeping warm during the autumn and winter months.
A TV, which plays DVD's only is available and guests can request these from the host.
The first floor bedroom consists of a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and has an ensuite shower room.
The shared swimming pool is located in the courtyard garden and benefits by having the sun all day. Patio seating area with parasol is provided and whilst bedding and bath towels are available in the Gîte we kindly ask guests to bring their own pool/beach towels.
The host kindly asks that when using the swimming pool all children are accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
Guests can also use the main shared outside eating area alongside their own patio space which is shaded during most of the day.
Whilst smoking is not permitted within the property, guests may smoke in outside spaces.
Pets are allowed however before committing please contact the host to confirm as some rules do apply.
The main access to the property is via large electric gates which remain closed throughout the day, if required a fob can be provided throughout your stay however we do ask that a refundable deposit is paid should this be required.
Parking can either be onsite or provided in an adjacent area.
Additional access to the property is also available via a separate gate
An adjacent 1 bedroom Gîte, Gîte des Abielles, sleeping unto 6, can also be booked allowing for larger parties. please contact the host for details.
A Vival General Store is located in Chives for any basic requirements.
A lakeside restaurant is available during the summer months and is only a 5 minute drive away.

After initially staying for 10 days we then went to the Dordogne for a week. I wish we’d have stayed here the whole time! Still you live and learn.
The gite is very clean, well equipped with a lovely modern bathroom and kitchen with plenty of space to park your car.
I have to say I’m a bit fussy, bringing my own bedding and towels but I didn’t need them here. The pristine white bedding and towels were changed every 5 days.
Lee & Karl are great guys who are very sociable and a good laugh.
We will definitely be returning!

We wanted a gite close to some friends and came across Gites des Ruches on the vrbo website. So glad we chose this one it is a great place to stay. The gite has everything that you need for a lovely relaxing break. It has been very well renovated whilst keeping the typical French style.
The courtyard garden is a lovely private area and the shay is a great place to relax and enjoy a meal with a glass or two of wine in the evening.
Lee & Karl are two really great guys, with lots of knowledge of the area. They are two fantastic hosts and have created something very special here.
In fact it is so nice we’re coming back in a week 😂!
