Come and stay with us at our beautiful 3 bedroom cabin that is located at the base of Mount Jefferson State Natural Area. If you’ve never been to Mount Jefferson State Natural Area, you’re missing out. Mount Jefferson is a national natural landmark with a rich history right in our back yard! Five hiking trails allow exploration of rare geology and plant communities, including a child-friendly TRACK trail and a strenuous scramble along the mountain’s ridgeline. Overlooks offer vistas into neighboring states. Picnic grounds with shelter combine scenic views with cool summer temperatures and breezes. One of the best parts is that there are NO fees to enjoy the park.

We are located just very close to town with all paved access, just minutes to downtown West Jefferson (about 1 mile to the Super Wal-Mart). When you stay at “A Wooded Escape” you will feel like you have truly escaped the hustle and bustle of work, everyday life and all the noise and lights of a city.

Our cabin offers 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, hot tub, pool table, fire pit, sleeps up to 6 guests and high speed internet! All of the TVs in the cabin have Amazon Fire TV Sticks devices for streaming your favorite movies or shows and no worry about clogging up the WIFI with 500 mbps of speed! Our cabin was constructed with hand hued logs and beams and features beautiful wood throughout.

Main Floor: As you enter our cabin, you are greeted with an open floor plan with the kitchen (has regular coffee maker AND Keurig), dining area and living room. We also offer a Pack-N-Play, a deluxe highchair and a baby gate. The living room has a large sectional sofa, gas fireplace (seasonal) and a large flat screen HDTV with Amazon Fire TV Stick (no cable) for streaming apps like Netflix, Disney Plus, ESPN Plus, etc. (you provide your login information).

There are 2 bedrooms, full bathroom and stacked washer and dryer on the main floor as well. One bedroom offers a queen size bed and the 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds. You can access the covered deck with a porch swing and enjoy Mother Nature nestled in the trees.

Upper Floor: There is a bedroom with a king size bed and a full bathroom, a second work station with a monitor and ergonomic office chair. The spacious loft offers a computer desk with monitor and an ergonomic office chair for those that has to work on vacation, a couch and large HDTV with Amazon Fire TV Stick and a NES Classic and SNES Classic video game system with 30+ games on each.

Lower Level: You and your friends/family can enjoy a competitive game of pool. There is also a flat screen TV with Amazon Fire TV Stick and a gas stove to help keep you warmer during the colder months. There is also a full bathroom on the lower level. The is an additional private room with a sleeper sofa, a flat screen Smart TV, a nice poker table and board games..

Outside: Escape and relax in our new Jacuzzi 6 person hot tub after a long day of hiking or shopping. The back deck offers a dining table and a gas grill. There is access to the fenced in dog area from the back deck as well and is a great place for smaller kids.

At "A Wooded Escape", we believe that nobody should be left behind. Why leave your pet at home when you can bring them along for the adventure. Well behaved dogs are welcome for a 1 time nonrefundable pet fee of $75 per dog plus tax (sorry, but no cats allowed).

The access roads are paved and easily accessible (4x4/AWD is highly encouraged and recommended during the winter months). This is a great location for local shopping, hiking, skiing, canoeing, fishing and exploring! "A Wooded Escape" has all of the comforts of home and you’ll want to come back year after year to our cabin and Ashe County.

There is a 2 night minimum for off peak seasons
3 night minimum for holidays and the entire month of October.
4 night minimum for the Thanksgiving holiday
6-7 night minimum for the July 4th and Christmas/New Year holidays.

Check in time is after 4:00 pm and. Check out time is before 11:00 am.

***Important Notes:
-This cabin is accessed by a long steep paved access road. We HIGHLY recommend a front wheel drive vehicle or 4WD/AWD for our cabin. Tire chains and 4WD/AWD may be necessary during the winter months.
-The owners use outdoor surveillance cameras to ensure that their home remains safe. No cameras monitor the inside rooms of the home.
-There is no land-line phone in this cabin. Cell phone coverage is not guaranteed. The home does have WIFI so you may be able to call using WIFI calling.

As you plan your trip to the mountains, please remember we do get rain, snow and some foggy days and occasional inconveniences which are out of our control. Winter weather in the Blue Ridge Mountains can occur from November through April. The majority of our homes are accessed by mountain roads, which will be icy in winter weather. For the safety of you and your party, please be prepared to drive in snow and ice. This means 4-wheel drive, good tires, and chains. It is your responsibility to be prepared for hazardous road conditions.
