Very good location, close to the main street and beaches

We were warmly greeted by the host upon arrival, which was very nice. Whenever we had any questions the host was ready to answer and he booked a taxi for us to leave the island with the first ferry at 6:45 am. The room was very island-y, which was great. There was a little terrace for some hanging out and the compound itself had a very chill vibe to it. The shower in the room had great water pressure, and even though there is no temperature adjustment, the temperature was fine as well.
The beds aren't super comfy, and there was no AC. However, this is not a huge deal because we were provided with an extra fan (on top of the ceiling fan) which also worked fine.

The property has a great location near to the best beach of the highland. Nice restaurant also available. It has a beautiful garden with hammocks and the staff memeber is the kindest person ever, always welcoming you with a big smile and always being helpful.
The bedroom was nice and in line with the price paid. The bathroom instead was quite bad, wet and completely covered in black mold due to no windows/air filter.

The location is great. Only a few minutes from the beach and places to eat. The garden and seating area there are lovely. You can see that someone once designed them thoughtfully and beautifully. Room was big. A/C worked well. Bed was comfortable. You can see that the place was once loved. But everything has seen better days and looks a bit abandoned, tbh. See below. Note: Pangkor is lovely!! Hornbills, monkeys, amazing beaches (though water visibility wasn't great, if you like snorkelling). The island is calm and peaceful during the week, but lively and bustling with local tourists on weekends and school holidays.
I arrived in the evening and was told that my room (booked months in advance, confirmed and paid - supposed to be a queen room with a little veranda / balcony looking into the garden) was not available because other people decided to stay longer. I was then asked to pay more for another room, because it has air condition. My original booking said nothing about fan or AC. Even though I advised that I am not interested in A/C there seemed to be no alternative. After negotiation I paid only 5 RM per night more, rather than 10. This is not about the money, but about the fact I had a room booked, confirmed and paid - and in the end had to pay more for a room I did not want. I got a stuffy dark room with a mouldy bathroom near reception. I can totally rough it, if it needs to be. But this is way too much money for what you get. There is no drinking water. There are 2 old fridges in the garden that are not working (so you cant store anything), there is no WiFi. The owner can't even advise you where to get a coffee in the morning. There is no rubbish bin in your bathroom or room (and you don't get one when you ask - you are advised to dispose of your rubbish in the bin in the garden). All that said, over the days I got the feeling that the owner is actually a nice guy. And of course I do not know his situation and why the place is not maintained. I also got to see the bungalows at the top / end of the garden, and they are actually nice. Very simple, with fan, but the bathrooms cleaner, the air fresher because theres a bit of wind up there, the little terrace looks over the garden - no luxury, but really nice, especially with all the nature around. Would have been happy with those (and they are actually cheaper!). So, overall, mixed feelings.
