The Cottage At Harple Farm

Prachtige plek, traditionele cottage. Aardige verhuurster.

Alleen op de eerste verdieping is een toilet. Dat was voor onze samenstelling - stel, kind en grootmoeder - wat onhandig, omdat grootmoeder beneden sliep maar daar dus geen wc was. Als je alleen gebruik maakt van de twee slaapkamers boven is het geen probleem.

Prachtige locatie in het buitengebied en toch op maar enkele minuten van de snelweg, ideaal. Beddengoed en handdoeken goed verzorgd, voldoende handdoeken aanwezig (alleen maar 1 setje in de keuken). Ook een wasmachine en zelfs een vriezer, erg prettig. 2 badkamers, waarvan 1 met mooie grote douche. Erg aardige gastvrouw die we helaas niet live hebben ontmoet omdat ze herstellende was, maar ze kon ons wel adviseren over de trein naar Londen.

Schattige oude cottage, maar daardoor hier en daar wel wat stoffig en gehorig. 2 toiletten, maar beide boven waardoor dit huisje niet zo geschikt is voor mensen die niet goed kunnen traplopen. Radiatoren op de slaapkamers waren niet dicht te draaien, dus wanneer je de verwarming in de huiskamer aan deed werd het ook op de slaapkamers erg warm. Maar we hadden een erg leuk verblijf en komen zeker nog eens terug!

The cottage is absolutely gorgeous! the photos do not do it justice. A group of five of us stayed for a few nights and we loved every minute. The cottage was so homely and had everything we needed. The host, Pauline, even left us some fresh produce and a guide of the local area. It was amazing we can’t recommend enough !

The front door was left unlocked and we walked straight in. We were not notified by Booking.com of any code to retrieve the key and had to message the host to find it.

The kitchen was insufficiently lit and had a very bad odour upon entrance, almost like someone was urinating in it. The listing shows pictures and lists a washing machine as available for use, but it had vanished for our stay. We had to use the host's washing machine, texting her to unlock the door every time we needed to wash, walking over to insert and then collect our clothes, and then walk back to our cottage. There was however a dishwasher for our use. The scrubbing brushes for cleaning dishes were extremely old and worn. Also, no welcome basket was provided like other guests had mentioned. I had requested some basics like milk and bread because the 3 of us had travelled from so far away: Australia, Houston and Riyadh. When we requested these after we'd been given the key, the host brought us some things; it was just disappointing to have to ask. Also, the shower in the secondary bathroom is extremely weak and we all ended up sharing the master shower. The host Pauline was very pleasant and overall we enjoyed our stay. Not because of the accommodations necessarily but the surrounding countryside is completely stunning, and we spent the entire day outside of the cottage, only using it for sleeping and to make breakfast.
