Rainbow Holiday Home

Shabnam and Gujpal run a very friendly and welcoming home stay. We returned there twice during our trip in leh. Could always rely on rainbow for clean rooms, hot water and a kind welcome. Great home cooked food too. The rooms are a little bit dated, but the value is excellent, as is the hospitality. We would return (and did many times).

First of all, the extremely friendly staff, who also took care of our transportation around Ladakh (we rented a mini bus). They also offered to prepare all our meals every day.

The rooms are actually in an apartment building and have a makeshift entrance. It felt less used and a bit stuffy.

The room size and amenities are excellent value for 1200 INR per night

The service from the host has much to be improved. Loud and long conversations after 11pm at night just outside the very poorly sound proofed sliding doors. Loud music and vacuuming as early as 7am. Does not speak a word of English. Asks for more money then the online reservation has already confirmed. Asks for earlier checkout then the reservation has confirmed. At check out asks for tips when the room was not cleaned once during the entire stay and no food or drink was provided. Asks for good review despite everything else. Owner also not satisfied with typical passport and registrar, instead requesting special online forms for foreigners unheard of in any other hotel in the region
