Location. Reception Staff.
Room was incredibly small. When I complained they put me in a larger room which was adequate in size but not great,

Amazing creative and very tasteful interiors. Cleverly designed room with nice touches. The staff were brilliant!!!! And the location was amazing. We took the tram from the airport to princess street and walked to the hotel, and the following day we walked to Waverley station, all so easy! The hotel is on the characterful Victoria street with lovely shops and it’s just off the Royal mile, and the Grassmarket. Also, our room was really quiet and we had a view of the castle! Highly recommended.

Great location, interesting building. Loved the roof terrace and the breakfast was good. Staff were very friendly.
Room was smaller than expected and value for money could have been better. Room was a bit noisy in the morning with people moving around and cleaning etc. Fridge was quite loud during the night.

What a wonderful place to spend a special weekend. We loved the way the hotel had been restored and decorated: great colours, great furniture. All of the staff were absolutely exceptional: friendly, helpful and so welcoming. They really made the stay as great as it was! Ronald from South Africa on reception was brilliant.
Our Grand Chamber King room on the 8th floor was so peaceful and harmonious. All of the decor and furniture felt very luxurious and tactile, creating such a relaxing space to spend time in. We loved the dressing room and bathroom designs — such a clever way to keep each room separate and available when one is in use.
Breakfast was great: fab coffee and interesting takes on classic options. We also had Afternoon Tea in the Commons Club restaurant, which felt like such a treat. Highly recommend a cocktail or two in the Commons Club bar: my favourite was the Rivera Nocturne.
We cannot wait to stay here again: I truly felt this hotel made all the difference to our stay in Edinburgh.

Location, decor, the bar @ the common room. I had read a review on Google that said there wasn’t much that made you feel like you’re in Scotland, but I didn’t not feel like this at all. I loved the somewhat modern feel mixed w some old Scottish charm -especially in the common areas of the hotel.
I liked everything about the property

Had room service for breakfast and was terrible. Worst breakfast I’ve had in Edinburgh it took an hour to arrive and the everything was poor like a reheat actually complained about this to main reception

Like the room so much. Dont be fooled into thinking that not having a separate room as bathroom is a bad thing. This design is wonderful. We didnt have to wait for each other at all for 6 days and 5 nights. In other hotels, you wait for using the toilet, taking a bath, brushing teeth, getting ready, make up etc. But here 2 person can do anything they need to do at the same time with this design. Hats off for the architects. There is a door separating the bed area with the rest. Each cubicle for bath and toilet has well insulated magnetic doors and great ventilation, no bad smell or moisture at all after using them. No noise from the toilet when being used, as it has one door of the cubicle itself and a second door separating the bed area, it is even better than a regular bathroom. Two very spacious wardrobes with many many hangers. A proper iron and an ironing board. The fullest mini bar and drinks stand ever with normal street prices. Complimentary biscuits, coffe teas etc plenty as well. Been to many luxury hotels, never was this good and easy for two to stay in. Definitely best for travelling couples. Rest of the hotel is very good as well. Breakfast was wonderful. Buffet and a la carte ordering as well. Rich selection. Location absolutely the best. Room was very quiet. House keeping exceptional, twice a day. Decor all around the hotel is fabolous. Attention to detail is great. Luxury and chic. Dont think its just for young people because of its fashionable design. Its more luxurious than the boring big brand 5 star so called “luxurios” kinds. Definitely for people from all age groups. I said 6 days and 5 nights, because they let us check in early at 10:30 even without letting them know that we will arrive early and charged us nothing for that. Definitely the most customer satisfaction oriented hotel ever. Staff was perfect as well. Would definitely come again and recommend.

The location was spot on for everything that old town has to offer and it was only a short walk into princess street etc and the station. The staff are the friendliest people I have ever come across! what a lovely bunch of people they are and they make your stay almost perfect .
Just the location of my room? It seemed a magnet for passers by to stop under my balcony and shout and scream or fight in the early hours but I suppose this a seasonal issue as the hotel is located bang in the busy pub area of old town and a busy road for traffic, but this can’t be helped to be honest , and I could have had a room change if I had complained I was told as I was checking out , but I put it all down to the festive season and over excited spirited people, and I didn’t think at this height of the season a room change would have been possible , so that’s my fault in hindsight I wish that I had spoken up.
But I would return for sure

Everything. The hotel is within a walking distance to everything. It is an amazing building, the staff are really polite and it also has an amazing breakfast. Even though it was busy due to the Christmas holidays they handled everything perfectly! Will be back soon! Loved every single minute and thank you for your hospitality!
Nothing to dislike, it is the best hotel in Edinburgh!

This hotel exceeded our expectations!
The staff are very nice and accommodating, our room was lovely and had a lot of space,
breakfast was great. And the highlight for me was that the hotel as a small and cosy library with fire in the fireplace and comfortable sofas that you can just relax in!
The hotel is located on Victoria St (some may say it's the inspiration for Diagon Alley from the harry potter books!) and is very close to everything! everything is in walking distance!

Stylish and locally influenced decor - it doesn’t feel like an international chain hotel. Great attention to detail - everything works really well. Great bar.
Nothing at all - I loved it!

Hotel was very clean and staff very nice
I was told I was getting a castle view and just had a room facing scaffolding. I also paid for a surprise package for my partner who I was proposing to. Got into the room and the wrong package was put in there, which completely shattered the dream proposal. Was very upsetting as I contacted and emailed 3 times before arriving.

Definitely not 5 star standard. Feels too focussed on being cool but missing the mark on some of the basics of 5 star service.

Extremely overpriced for what you got. Also - loud pumping music until 1::15 am - could feel the vibrations in the room.

The hotel is very nice and in a great location.
The room was modern and spotlessly clean.
Unfortunately our rooms were located on level 2 at the back of the hotel which is on a busy street full of bars and nightclubs. There was a great deal of noise disturbance from people in the street just below our balcony from 11pm until after 3am which meant we didn’t sleep well during our stay.

The roof terrace was amazing . Great location for festival . Quirkiness ! Very clean . Modern and very well kept well staffed - never seen so many staff in a hotel and they were all just so so so lovely !
Bathroom facilities - too quirky . Prefer sink in actual toilet especially if need to use during night . Also prefer ‘normal’ walk shower to body shower

It was beautifully styled, the bed was the comfiest ever and we loved the bars and restaurants within the property. The room was so well thought out and had every little touch we needed.
Purely due to the location of our room and the fact it was The Fringe, it was a little noisy late into the night. We understand that this is to be expected.

As a Catholic, it was very cool to stay in a hotel that once was a church. It’s extremely elegant. The minute you walk in, the property smells A MAZING and you get greeted with a class of bubbly. Who doesn’t love that. Very clean, classy, they have a restaurant and a bar and a very cool rooftop/terrace. The staff were INCREDIBLE and very friendly and accommodating. It’s located in one of the amazing parts of the city. I cannot wait to go back.
