Little Symi House

La casa è molto accogliente, splendida terrazza, una scalinata un po’ ripida per arrivare ma ne vale assolutamente la pena! Antonella, la persona che ci ha accolto e che gestisce la casa é stata molto gentile e premurosa.

Lovely apartment in a very nice location. The apartment has three levels. First is the kitchen which is well equipped (not that you’ll be doing much cooking), second is the living room and bathroom and at the top is the bedroom. Star of the show is the patio which gets the sun in the morning but is shaded in the afternoon which I liked especially when it’s 30 degrees. Antonella met me on arrival and was very thorough and welcoming. Showed me things to do on the island and recommended places to eat. Just overall a great place to relax and let the world go by. Special shout out to Antonella and her mum who were on hand to help out when I locked myself out!

Stairs. Like most properties on symi you’ll be climbing stairs to get there so pack light! Nothing extreme but just be aware that it’s an issue, especially when you’re coming back from the supermarket with bottles of water.

The communication from host (David) from the moment we booked was excellent, as was being met and walked to the house (yes up all those steps (they are in the property description and we were reminded again in advance) but well worth the effort) and shown around by the fabulous Constantina. Antonella looked after us the whole time we were there, checking in on us and organising a taxi for our ferry back to Rhodes. Such a friendly, knowledgeable and smiling person ... just a wonderful human being. The house itself was perfect. We love a quirky yet comfortable apartment and this one had it in spades. Even better than the photos. A well equiped kitchen (on its own level), a good wc with shower, reading nook / lounge area, and the bed in the loft was very comfortable. The air con worked a treat and kept use cool even with the 40+ degree temperatures outside. Best of all was the big terrace (covered so sheltered from the sun, and its big !!) - amazing views over the harbour both during the day and at night. (although there is a dwelling in front of the little Symi House, so not 100% uninterrupted harbour views, they really are stunning ). We came to enjoy our trip up and down the steps to the Harbourside, especially with all the cats and views (so don't be put off by the effort to bring your luggage up there to begin with). We had strong legs and glutes by the end of our week !! The location is just wonderful ... set on the hillside, with a supermarket and restaurants close by and only a 10 minute stroll (yes there are steps involved but they are worth the effort) to the other restaurants, supermarkets, boats for day trips, and fabulous bars ... (Los Arts Yacht Club, Giorgina' Market, Taverna Trata-Trawler, Dolphin Pizzeria, Mediterranoe Café and the sensational Agora were our favourites !).Nos beach is a short stroll away too ... We will definitely be saving up our Australian Dollars to stay again !! Thank you D, A & C.

Nothing to do with the property or the owners: I should have booked a taxi in advance to take us from the dock where the ferry (the Panagis Skiadeni) from Rhodes arrived (the far side of the harbour) to the foot of the steps leading up to the little Symi House (as no taxi rank and taxis are few and far between). If you are coming by ferry then find out in advance as to which side it will arrive (some come in to the Clock Tower, which is very walkable to the steps , the others come in on the far side in which case book a taxi in advance if need be !) Sadly there was no sign of any owls (possibly because it was very hot), which would have been a bonus had they made themselves known !!!

Genuint & charmigt boende med en stor härlig terass med utsikt över hamnen & byn. Man bor som en riktig grek här – ett äkta hem. Tillmötesgående & trevlig ägare till huset som var snabb att svara på frågor. Antonella som mötte upp när vi skulle checka in var otroligt serviceminded, hjärtlig & proffsig. Hon fixade & kom med tips på trevliga restauranger och bästa stränderna. Allt hon tipsade om var klockrent! Helnöjda!

Var nöjd med allt.
