One Bedroom Unit in Malta/Saratoga

Lovely location, minutes from restaurants and 13 minutes from racetrack

This studio unit consists of a common area with kitchenette, and bathroom with shower and one bedroom with a double bed, dresser and closet. It is fine for a couple (there is also a futon-like couch in the common room that could function as a twin bed.) The mini fridge accommodated our leftovers, the microwave allowed us to reheat them, and there was a small sink for washing plates and cups. Our concern was with the exterior approach to the unit. There is an uneven slate walkway that is not well-illuminated at night. The cement steps to the entrance have shifted so they slant down to the right, yet the only handrail is loose and unfastened at one end. While the outer door has a functioning lock, an inner door to the unit does not close tightly. Finally, the exterior walls atctge entrance have cobwebs and dead bugs around the light fixture that are unappealing. I wrote to Paul inquiring about access to the lake and never received a response, so we were uncertain about whether we could walk on the private roads in the quiet neighborhood. All in all, it met our needs for a fair rental price.

Great location, Nice shower, comfortable bed

While the property is convenient to Saratoga activities, it can best be described as “dated” and needing some upgrades, maintenance and fresh air circulated through the unit. The entrance is surrounded by multiple spiderwebs/cobwebs with hundreds of bugs trapped inside and others buzzing around, which provides an unappealing welcome, especially at night. The inside is drab and musty. If those things don’t bother you and all you want is a bed, toilet and shower, then you might be interested. Otherwise, you probably want to consider passing on this property.
