About this house rental
Indulge in the vastness of Starview Ranch, boasting stunning panoramic views of mountains and lush landscapes. With 50 acres at your disposal, there is no shortage of space to explore, hike, or simply revel in the beauty of nature. There are 3 homes and a “wellness area” at Starview Ranch:
The Main House is at the top of the property and has 3 bedrooms, a laundry room, full kitchen and a full bathroom (bathroom 1 - please note there is only 1 bathroom at the main house). There is a large front patio with Adirondack chairs and the back patio has a large dining table with stunning views of the Sierras. There is also a Wisteria patio off the Sun room (bedroom 3) with seating. In the backyard, there is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs and handmade wood benches. Sleeps 6-8.
The Cottage is 1400 sq ft with 2 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom. The original quartz fireplace dates back to when the house was a hunting cabin before WWII and the renovated pine wood flooring is hand milled. It has 2 screened porches, 1 off the bedroom and 1 is in the back with a table seating 4. The dining room table seats 6. There is an additional outside table for 4 in the French garden as well as a large gas grill. Sleeps 6.
The Bunkhouse is a newly renovated farmhouse with a living room area, kitchenette and 2 bedrooms with a total of 3 bunk beds and 1 captain bed. There is also 1 full bathroom and outdoor patio area. Sleeps 7-8.
The wellness area is located 400 ft downhill from the main house and 500 ft uphill from the cottage. This area includes a 75 ft lap pool, 8 person jacuzzi, wood burning sauna imported from Finland, cabana with toilet, sink and shower (bathroom 4), outdoor seating for 14, a large gas grill and a 400 sq ft fully equipped gym with A/C and heating.
Starview Ranch is a working ranch and is home to 3 cows plus an apiary with active beehives situated well away from the dwellings.
There are several trails and interesting things to see around Starview Ranch. Feel free to explore around the property but keep a safe distance from the bee hives at the apiary. Also, the fence surrounding the apiary is electrified.
The main driveway along the property is an access road to a neighboring property. No one is currently living there but rarely a vehicle may drive through.
The "sunset spot" near the garden is the perfect place to enjoy views of gorgeous sunsets over Squaw valley (even better with a glass of wine).
This is also an ideal location for a small wedding venue.
The fireplaces, sauna and fire pit should not be used during summer months when the fire risk is high. The gas BBQ grills at the wellness area and at the cottage can be used year-round.
I would like to remind guests that this property is out in the beautiful wilderness. You are in the great outdoors and may encounter wildlife. If doors or windows (without screens) are left open these critters and many bugs tend to find their way in. I recommend only opening up the screened windows and ensuring doors are not left open. Also, no matter how rigorously the homes are cleaned (and I take cleaning very seriously) there may be some dead bugs or a small cobweb that was created in the short time from cleaning to your check in... again this is just a fact of life on a 50 acre ranch in the middle of nowhere.
Starview Ranch is located in a remote area in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The drive to the property from either Kings Canyon Drive or from 245 involve curvy mountain roads with switchbacks and sharp turns which can also be narrow in some places. Also, the drive to Kings Canyon National Park is a windy mountain road.
Other things to note:
The 3 cows on the property will keep their distance but are generally friendly. They will be even more friendly if you offer them apples ;)
Also, the cow pies are just part of the charm of life at Starview Ranch. Also, the driveway is an easement road to the neighboring property. No one lives there but an occasional vehicle may pass through.
One last piece of advice:
Pack and wear clothes that you don't mind getting a little dusty/ dirty. Again, part of the charm.

A life highlight of a long weekend! 13 of my friends and family members converged from 7 states here for my 30th birthday and it was magical. We rented all three spaces and love the pool, sunset spot, big well-stocked kitchens, and space to spread out. I’m dreaming of when I can return! 11/10, the best place I’ve ever stayed, and Dean was incredibly responsive and kind throughout the whole process.

THIS PLACE IS BEAUTIFUL. Felt like summer camp except with wonderful accommodations. The distance between houses is not too far so we could walk, and we spent a majority of the time at the pool soaking up the sun. Property is extremely well stocked, it has everything we really needed for cooking for large group for three days. All the beds (even the bunk house) were very comfortable. Each house was unique and wonderful. Internet and cell reception worked for everyone in our group. We can't wait to come back!
